Silly Stuff That I Don't Intend to Buy -

The internet is full of silly stuff -
That I have NO intention of buying -
"Silly" being my opinion only -
I could be wrong - ;))

Take a look - ;))

Why would I buy this -
The String Thing(R)-Sewing - HERE -
Annie’s(R) Crafts - $10.99 -
What nifty tins!
These tins are perfect for keeping pearl cotton, skeins and threads from getting tangled. Just pull the end of the thread through the hole in the lid and it's ready to use. The magnetic top will keep your needles in place.
When I could use a pincushion -
And poke a hole in the top of a pill bottle -
That is actually the right shape and size? - ;))

Or this? -
My Pad for Needles - HERE -
By Blue Feather Products Inc. -
Connecting Threads - $10.36 -
No need to fuss about putting a machine needle you’ve used for 5 minutes back in the package.
Sorry - but for $10.36 I think that -
I could pick up the package -
That I put down 5 minutes ago -
And put the needle back in it - ;))

Or this? -
Fons & Porter Sewing Machine Mat - HERE -
By Dritz -
Connecting Threads - $15.99 -

When I could use a placemat - ;))

Or this? -
Needle ID Cards - HERE -
Keepsake Quilting - $10.99
If you use a variety of hand needles, this set is a must- have!
Includes six 3 1/2" x 2" cards, each for a different type of needle.
One side has information and history; the other side pictures various actual sizes of each needle.
Just match up your own needle with the one pictured, and you'll know its size
Or I could keep the package that the needle came in -
And put the needle back when I’m done using it - ;))

Or this? -
Quilt Sticks (TM) - HERE -
Annie’s (R) Cratts - $7.99 - EACH -
If you do a lot of strip cutting for quilting, binding, sashing and more, you'll love Quilt Sticks™!
Using these innovative measuring and cutting tools will give you a perfect cut every time. The tops have a smooth surface so fabric won't pull or snag against it while a special backing keeps them from slipping. All are color-coded by widths in a wide variety of handy increments. Choose between 1 1/2" to 5" widths. Each stick measures approximately 24" in length. No air shipments.
These come in 1-1/2” - 2-1/2” - 3” - and 5” sizes -
And are priced and sold SEPARATELY -
I have a combo version -
It’s called a ruler - ;))

All of that stuff is silly to me -

As opposed to THESE -
THESE are NOT silly -
THESE were definitely made for ME - ;))
HERE -

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

Sucker born every minute?? Well, I would rather have money to buy fabric but I know I have bought some rulers I could have lived without on occasion.

I actually was thinking about making a sewing mat though. Not for sewing at home necessarily where I have everything at my finger tips but at meeting days, etc. We have to take off the churches table cloths in the fellowship hall and put down our own clothes so we protect them in some manner. I will tell you though, my gals did NOT get crayon and markers on them!! There are a few tutorials for making your own versions but I think I would use one from a friend of mine.

I got a simple quilted placemat at Wal-mart - keeps my desk from getting scratched - and my Lily 555 likes it just fine - ;))

I agree with you. Make use of what you have. By the way, I like your sewing machine, does it happen to be a Viking Lily? Because that is my machine and I LOVE it. Got a newer more computerized Pfaff, but I always return to my Lily.

Yes - the sewing machine in the photo is a Husqvarna/Viking Lily 555 - I call her Lily - ;)) Right now she is set up for machine applique because I LOVE the applique stitch on that machine! I do my piecing on my new Brother SQ9050 that I got at Wal-mart for $200 a couple of months ago. It has more bells and whistles than Lily does and cost 1/10th what Lily cost ten years ago - go figure - ;))

Silly stuff to me - must-haves to others - ;))
My favorite "silly" is the Twister ruler -
Why would I sew perfectly good squares with STRAIGHT edges together - then use the ruler to cut out squares with BIAS edges - that have to be sewn together - leaving me with a huge chunk of Swiss-cheese fabric - when I could cut a wonky four-patch - switch up the patches - and sew them back together into blocks with STRAIGHT edges? - ;))

What do you find that will take the sticky goo off the pill bottles?? Nail polish remover is not doing it.

I use "Goo-Gone" - it comes in a 16 fl. oz. plastic bottle - and I think that I got it at Wal-Mart - it uses "Citrus Power" - is kind of an orange color - and works VERY well in removing all kinds of sticky stickers - ;))
