DESIGN WALL MONDAY - 2/18/13
Check out all of us who link up with Judy L. at Patchwork Times on Mondays.
We have some awesome stuff on our walls!
Well, THEY do - ME - not so much sometimes - ;))

This weekend I was messing with my blog settings -
Trying to make it easier to see/read -
And instead of always using the BOLD feature -
I decided to change the font size to a larger one - ;))
Wouldn't you know -
Blogger changed the font size on ALL 600+ published posts -
That have ALREADY been formatted in BOLD - ;))
So - if you want to go back to read an old post -
It is now both in BOLD and a larger font -
Leaving NO doubt that you will be able to SEE/READ it - ;))
What do you think?
Should I change it back?

As far as my design wall goes -
I played a little with my FPP Hearts -
The ones for my Memory Quilt - ;))
I have over 60 of them -
And I can’t decide on a layout - ;))
I could applique each of them -
To their own little square -
And deal with them that way -
Or -
I could set them in one giant circle -
Or I could set them in vertical rows -
Maybe with plain alternating rows -
Or alternating rows of 9-patches -
Or in groups of four -
Some would be sideways -
Or upside down -
Or alternating vertical rows -
Again - some would be upside down -
Or in zig-zag vertical rows -
Or in circles -
Which makes star shapes in the middle -
Or in some other vertical variation -
I’d like to come up with a layout -
That would allow me to keep them in chronological order -
A timeline of sorts of the quilts that I have made -
Through the years -
I'd like to come up with a layout -
That would allow me to label them -
Showing the date and name of each quilt -
I’d like to come up with a layout -
That would allow me to add to it -
As I make new quilts -
And new hearts -
I have another dozen hearts made -
But the quilts aren’t quilted yet -
So they’re not technically “done” -
But in my world they are probably as "done" -
As they are ever going to get - ;))
Any suggestions?? - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
From a visual point of view the circular layout are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I like the circular layouts too - ;))
DeleteI agree with Frog Quilter, I like all of the circular layouts. I love the idea of making string hearts from fabrics of each quilt. They are so adorable. What size are they?
ReplyDeleteThanks - my "Hearts" are actually Foundation Paper Pieced - and are about 5" wide and about 4" tall - ;))
DeleteI use a Large Crazy Hearts pattern by ABC Patterns - Temecula, CA - but you can use any pattern you want.
I posted all about How I Do It - here -

I like the giant circle. I don't know of any way to "label" the hearts on the front of the quilt. You could take a photo of the quilt once it is done and put a legend on the back of the quilt with information about each heart.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stella - I was thinking that I could applique the hearts in whatever layout and then maybe stitch the date and name somewhere close to each heart using SuzieQ's alphabet stitch mode. But I like the "legend" idea - I'll have to think about that - ;))
DeleteThe circle looks cool! For labeling individual squares might be easiest but not as much pizzazz as the other layouts you were playing with.
ReplyDeleteI like the font adjustment just fine too----my reworked eyes can now read quite clearly from 6 plus feet back even if it is NOT bolded. Commenting, not so much. BUT it is your blog so you do what you like best, LHQ,
Thanks - I still need to play with it some more - maybe one of these days "it" will come to me - ;))
DeleteAnd I'm glad you like the new font - can't do much about the word verification stuff other than to tell you to keep hitting the little circle thingy until you get one you can read - 'cuz it's my blog and I like it - it keeps the robots and riff-raff from commenting - and I find out who my friends are - ;))
