Back to the backing -
For the Basic Math quilt top -
And the pressing - layering - and fusing/basting -
I'm not done yet - but I got a good portion of it fused/basted -
Then I played with O Happy Christmas - and remembered that I still need to stitch down the letters before I do the FMQ in the background. I really don't want to blanket-stitch around each and every letter - so I thought I would do some FMQ squiggles around the edges instead -
I auditioned some thread - green - gold - black - white -
And decided on the green - and NO squiggles - because all of the colors show either on the green or the white or both -
As a test - I FMQ stitched the "d" in "tidings" just inside the outer edge - and you can barely see it - which is what I wanted - LOL - I can also practice using the straight edge ruler in some places as I go along -
You can see it better from the back - it's just enough stitching to keep the letter in place - but not so much that it shows a lot on the back -
So that's the plan for O Happy Christmas -
While I'm fusing/basting and ditch quilting Basic Math on the other machine - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
I like being able to switch between projects when I am doing FMQ on a larger quilt.
ReplyDeleteI like the plan for stitching down the letters.
