Design Wall Mionday - 6/22/15
DESIGN WALL MONDAY -
Check out all of us who link up with Judy L. -
At Patchwork Times on Mondays.
We have some awesome stuff on our walls!
Well, THEY do - ME - not so much sometimes - ;))
===
On my wall today -
9-Patch Pizzazz - still - ;))
From -
9-Patch Pizzazz -
Fast, Fun & Finished in a Day -
(c) 2006 - Judy Sisneros -
C&T Publishing, Inc.
And it's coming together nicely - ;))
For the bottom section -
I prepped a couple of squares -
And used Lily to applique them in the corner -
To help with the "flow" - ;))
It was one of Judy's ideas - not mine - and I liked it - so I used it - ;))
And as long as Lily is now set up for applique -
I figure I might as well tackle -
The letters on these strips - ;))
AND -
I found my "kit" for my June Wedding Sudoku -
With a variety of white-on-white fabrics -
Which, unfortunately, do NOT photograph well - ;))
Better hurry -
I'm running out of June - ;))

TUSAL - 6/16/15
Once again I have joined a bunch of other stitchers -
In Daffycat’s TUSAL - HERE -
It's a Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long - ;))
To play the game -
I have to fill my glass container -
With saved thread clippings -
Or ORTS - Old Ratty Threads -
Fabric trimmings -
Stitching cast-offs -
And then -
On (or about) the New Moon -
Take a picture of the ORTS in my jar -
Post it to my blog -
With a link back to her TUSAL post - HERE -
Label the Totally Useless posts with “TUSAL” -
And then visit her blog and comment on her ORT report for that month's TUSAL - ;))
It's EASY -
It's TOTALLY USELESS -
And -
It's FUN!! - ;))
This year I decided NOT to empty my jar each time -
Because last year my year-to-date accumulation of ORTs -
Made it look like I actually DID something - ;))

On my wall today -
Layout #1 - kinda - ;))
I did my best to replicate the layout from my previous posts/photos -
But I also did a bit of tweaking -
So it is "kinda" the same - ;))
And some of the "chunks" are sewn together -
And some are not - ;))
I know that it's hard to see the fabrics -
Since the photos don't enlarge when you click on them -
(I re-size my photos because of Google storage issues)
So here's a close-up of one section - ;))
It was FUN trying to get some parts -
Like the purple from the focus fabric in the top right block -
To "flow" to the top left corner of the 9-patch below it - ;))
More FUN is planned for the rest of this week -
As I try to get it all to fit together - ;))

On my wall today -
Layout #2 - ;))
I said before that I wasn't going to play with it much -
BUT - a breeze from the window next to the design wall -
Blew
SO - I tried another layout -
Since I had to put them back up anyway - ;))
And actually - the one above (#2) is the BASIC layout -
I misspoke the last time -
Because that layout (#1) -
Was the one for the first project in the book -
Lily Pond Wallhanging -
In REVERSE - ;))
Layout #1 - ;))
I like Layout #1 from last week -
I think it flows better -
Both the "Fans" and the "Gold" 9-patches -
Flow from the top right to the bottom left - ;))
What do you think? - ;))

Friday Funny - 6/5/15
A couple of weeks ago I got a new cordless phone set -
For the house - ;))
The old one had a home base and two extensions -
And one of the extensions crapped out on me -
And it was easier to get a whole new set -
Than it would have been to try to replace the crappy phone -
At least for me - ;))
Now, I admit that -
I'm not the most tech-savvy person in the world -
(My husband programmed our old phones) -
But I'm also not a total idiot in the tech department -
So I got the set all charged up -
And got everything programmed the way I wanted it -
Except for the "Caller ID announce" feature - ;))
Mind you - I HAVE "Caller ID" -
I just couldn't get the dang thing to "Announce" the caller -
Like the old system did - ;))
So I asked a friend to help me -
And we tried to set it from the home base -
No luck - it wouldn't "take" - ;))
Then we tried to set each handset individually -
No luck - it wouldn't "take" - ;))
Then I re-read the "Quick Reference Guide" one more time - ;))
The MENU/SELECT button said -
When the handset is not in use - press to show the menu.
While in the menu - press to select an item or save an entry or setting.
The OFF/CANCEL button said -
During a call - press to hang up.
While in a menu - press to cancel an operation -
Back up to the previous menu -
Or exit the menu display -
Or press and hold this button to exit to idle mode -
Now you have probably already figured out what was happening -
But just in case you haven't -
I'll explain - ;))
Every time I set the setting -
Hit MENU/SELECT to SAVE it -
I was stuck on the same screen -
So when I tried to BACK UP to the previous menu -
And EXIT the menu display -
I was CANCELLING the operation - ;))
Once I figured out that I should set the setting -
And PRESS AND HOLD the button to EXIT to idle mode -
Did it "TAKE" - ;))
And, yes -
I had to re-set all the settings -
That I THOUGHT were already set - ;))
Obviously my definitions of "BACKUP" and "EXIT" -
Are not the same as the guy -
Who put the "BACK UP" and "CANCEL" functions -
On the SAME button - ;))

PLAY time -
Monday I was Ready and Set -
So yesterday I PLAYED - ;))
I put up the basic layout -
In REVERSE - just for fun -
And kept tweaking it ALL day - ;))
I took photos as I went along -
Until I just had to STOP!! - ;))
I could go on tweaking it for DAYS -
And the differences are so subtle -
That all of the photos look pretty much the same - ;))
I thought about trying another layout -
For about a split second -
Because if I do -
I could be tweaking it FOREVER -
And this girl has some chores to do - ;))

Ready and Set -
Got the Pizzazz puzzle pieces ready to go -
But not before Murphy had his fun - ;))
I came up ONE short on this strip set -
So -
As long as I had to make some extra -
I made a couple extra extras - ;))
Now I think I'm Ready and Set -
To PLAY - ;))

DESIGN WALL MONDAY -
Check out all of us who link up with Judy L. -
At Patchwork Times on Mondays.
We have some awesome stuff on our walls!
Well, THEY do - ME - not so much sometimes - ;))
===
On my wall today - ;))
It's a brand new project -
From the book -
9-Patch Pizzazz -
Fast, Fun & Finished in a Day -
(c) 2006 - Judy Sisneros -
C&T Publishing, Inc.
I'm not so sure about the "finished in a day" part -
But I chose my focus fabric -
And a couple of others -
So we'll see what happens - ;))
What happened to the Churn Dash? - ;))
Well, it finally made it to the "flinsy" stage -
And from there -
Will probably hit the trash - ;))
I swear - those blocks KNEW that I was talking about them!! -
They ganged up on me -
And flat out refused to allow me -
To sew a straight line -
Or match any points -
And decided to be just plain ornery - ;))
The blue was the leader of the gang -
And decided to be slippery -
And slide all over the place - ;))
So after I finally got them all together -
Pressed them -
And took their picture -
I folded them up -
And put them on a shelf - ;))
I was going to donate the top to a bloggy buddy -
To use to teach some young quilters -
How to tie a quilt -
But it's not good enough -
It would probably fall apart in their hands - ;))
Life is too short to mess with stuff that won't cooperate -
So I dug out Judy's book -
And some pretty fabric -
And I'm going to PLAY!! - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
