Slow day -

I put the purple/green jelly roll away for now -

I really want/need to tackle some of my UFOs -

While I'm in the mood - LOL - ;))

I'm trying to duplicate this photo of the Dresden Plates -

On the design wall in my studio -

I'm still figuring out some stuff -

And I don't know how to download photos to this computer yet -

So I don't have a photo of what I have so far -

The one above will have to do -

I'm taking it slow and easy on this computer -

Baby steps -

I only have so much patience -

And I didn't want to mess with it much today -

Maybe tomorrow - LOL - ;))

New stuff -

A new jelly roll -

With pretty purples and greens -

And a new Win 10 laptop -

That I've had for a couple of years -

But never got around to setting up -

Dreading the inevitable "learning curve" - LOL -

I'd much rather play with the jelly roll -

But today I spent most of the day playing with the new computer -

Trying to FIND stuff - LOL - ;))

"Hear Wave" is a flimsy -

Ta Dah!! - ;))

I think I'll play with the Dresden Plates next -

Maybe - LOL - ;))

Found -

Some more baggies full of blocks -

When I was trying to organize my space - AGAIN - LOL - ;))

These are still bits and pieces -

4-Patch Posies - from March 2019

One Block Wonder - from April 2019 -

Which is really cool -

Depending on how you lay out the pieces -

And the Dresden Plates from about the same time -

I still have to sew the four long rows on Hear Wave -

But I think I'll play with the Dresden Plates next -

They just need a layout so I can figure out which way I want to press the seams before I applique the centers down -

The other ones need some more blocks made -

And will take more time to finish -

And I might see another SQUIRREL before I get to them - LOL - ;))

"Hear Wave" is webbed -

In columns - not rows - ;))

It was so easy to take the bottom two rows off the wall -

Sew them together like I showed you the other day -

Scoot my chair over to the design wall -

Grab the next row of blocks off the wall -

Making a stack -

Scoot back to the ironing board with the stack in my lap -

All I had to remember was -

Put the stack down with the TOP of the blocks pointed to the window -

I continued on my merry way -

Scooting back and forth -

With one row at a time -

Didn't even have to get out of my chair -

Until I got to the top couple of rows - LOL -

And it came out the same way it was up on the wall -

With no muss - no fuss -

And - MANY thanks to three friends -

Linda - who said I should call it "Heat Wave" -

Gene - who said that it looked good - "as is" - which saved me a lot of time -

Katie - whose auto-correct renamed it "Hear Wave" -

It's good to have friends -

So this can be the story of three friends -

All lending a hand -

And "Hear Wave" was too funny to pass up -

So - "Hear Wave" it is!! - LOL - ;))

Wednesday design wall -

Upstairs/Downstairs - Autumn Colors -

Looks much better in this orientation - ;))

For those of you who have asked about the pattern -

It's from a YouTube video -

CROSSING PATHS - MISSOURI STAR QUILT CO - HERE -

I still have some re-arranging to do -

Or maybe a lot more than "some" - LOL - ;))

Today's design wall -

The Autumn Colors blocks -

Have the dark BROWN down the center of each one -

So I thought it might be interesting to see them all go in one direction -

From top left to bottom right -

But it's kinda boring -

And the seams won't nest from block to block -

Unless I give every other one a quarter turn -

So I'll re-arrange them tomorrow -

And put them in the Upstairs/Downstairs layout -

Because it is SO much easier to TURN 15 blocks -

Than it is to re-press them - LOL - ;))

Another flimsy -

I had to look back to some old posts to see what I called this one -

It seems it didn't really have a name -

I just referred to it as the Blue/Green/Gray blocks -

But it's from a jelly roll - Benartex - Sevilla Blues -

So I've named it Upstairs/Downstairs - Sevilla Blues -

And here it is - LOL - ;))

I really like how easy it is to "web" these tops in columns rather than rows -

I wish I had thought to do it that way sooner - LOL -

FIVE columns just seems faster and easier to handle -

Than SIX rows - even though the total number of blocks is the same -

And sewing the VERTICAL seams LAST -

Just seems to make more sense to me -

I sew the whole thing in the SAME orientation as it was up on the wall -

I sewed Column 5 to 4 -

5/4 to 3 -

5/4/3 to 2 -

5/4/3/2 to 1 -

And I was done - ;))

While I was sewing this one together -

I found another baggie -

With the Autumn Colors blocks -

So I'll play with them next -

I have blocks and bits and pieces in baggies - tubs - bins - etc. -

E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E. -

If I do a "search" -

Who knows what I'll find - LOL - ;))

Playtime -

When I looked at my design wall this morning -

The whole right side of this top looked funny to me -

I somehow lost the "light" UP/DOWN/UP/DOWN/UP thing I had going on -

The first row is OK -

But the second row should go the "other" way -

And it does until I got to the LAST block on the right -

It should go DOWN - LOL - ;))

So I fixed it -

And the rest of them in that column -

And re-arranged some of the blocks -

Just for fun -

I could probably play with it for another week or so -

But I'm calling it "good enough" -

Now to get it sewn together - LOL - ;))

Side step -

While I ponder what to do with the left overs -

From my Karma Churn Dash -

I decided to put these blocks up on the wall -

I found them in a baggie -

From a long time ago - HERE -

It's been over a year -

So it's probably about time -

I sewed them into a top - LOL - ;))

Karma Churn Dash - flimsy -

My Karma Churn Dash is a flimsy!! -

YAY!! - ;))

And the "one of these is NOT like the others" -

Blends right in -

Probably because his friends on the left and right -

Have the same "light" inner triangles in the corners -

And another perk of webbing "my way" -

Is not only did I have THREE long seams to SEW -

Instead of FOUR -

To get the top together -

I only had THREE long seams to PRESS -

When I got done - YAY!! -

So now the question is -

What to do with the left overs? - LOL - ;))

I have 2 BLUE tone-on-tone charm squares - 5" x 5" -

And a bunch of cut strips -

The small ones are in sets of 2 @ 1-1/4" x 5" and 2 @ 1-1/4" x 6-1/2" -

The bigger ones are in sets of 4 @ 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" -

I'm thinking tiny 4-patches or 9-patches or 16 patches -

Using the small ones for the centers -

With the 2-1/2" strips on the sides -

And 2-1/2" squares in the corners -

What do you think? -

Any suggestions? - ;))

Webbing with a twist -

You've all seen the "webbing" technique before -

And there are umpteen gillion videos on YouTube if you haven't -

So here's my little "twist" on the whole thing - ;))

I simply "reverse it" -

I start at the BOTTOM -

And take the blocks off the wall in ROWS - not COLUMNS - ;))

Can you see the little stickers on the first block in these two bottom rows? -

The bottom row is Row #5 -

And the row above it is Row #4 -

The stickers are on SIDEWAYS -

Because when I take the rows down -

Starting with the bottom Row #5 - and stack the blocks - in order -

They will be on my ironing board like this -

The labels are at the TOP now -

Row #5 on the left - and Row #4 on the right -

Sew the blocks together - chain piecing -

Flip the top one of Row #4 over on top of the top one of Row #5 -

Sew the blocks in the one stack to the ones in the other stack -

Keeping the thread "webbing" intact -

The first two blocks of Row #5/4 sewn together - ready for Row #3 -

With the rest still under the needle on the sewing machine -

Row #3 - ready to go -

And stacked to the right of the two rows of blocks already sewn -

Flip the top one of Row #3 over on top of the top one of Row #4 -

And sew the blocks in Row #3 to the Row #5/4 blocks already sewn -

Add Row #2 - to the mix -

Then add Row #1 -

When I take it out from under the needle -

I'm holding the TOP row of blocks -

Now I have FOUR columns with FIVE blocks in each column -

All "webbed" together -

And all I have left is to sew THREE vertical seams -

I don't know about you -

But I don't like sewing the LONG seams -

So if I can sew THREE vertical ones -

Instead of FOUR horizontal ones -

That works for me - LOL - ;))

No change -

Karma Churn Dash is still up on the wall -

I got sidetracked today with "chores" -

And other miscellaneous "stuff" -

So - no sewing today -

Maybe tomorrow -

If I can get the "stuff" sorted out - LOL - ;))

Today's design wall -

Same as yesterday's design wall - ;))

I did move some blocks -

But then I moved them right back -

To where they were in the first place -

Seems that -

Even though some look "bunched" up -

I did a pretty good job -

Of keeping the same fabrics -

From touching each other -

And the arrangement is "growing on me" -

So I might just call this -

Good enough -

Unless I feel like playing with it some more -

Which I seriously doubt -

Since I'm bored with it already -

And a bunch of new SQUIRRELS -

Are making a LOT of noise - LOL -;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

Playing -

I re-arranged some stuff in my sewing room -

And moved all of the Karma Churn Dash blocks -

From the design wall in the hallway -

To the smaller design wall -

In my sewing "studio" -

So I could get a "straight on" photo -

They are in no particular order -

Just up there -

Mostly to see how many I have of each "variation" -

Light/Dark - High Contract/Low Contrast - Busy/Plain - etc. -

And to see if they "played well together" -

Then I took another photo - more "close-up" -

And enlarged it for you -

But that makes it come out blurry - sorry -

There is definitely a PARTY going on - LOL - ;))

I think my favorite block is #20 -

The "odd-ball" -

The "one of these is NOT like the others" -

Even though the "units" are the same -

The value/contrast placement is a little different -

Which makes it "special" - LOL - ;))

Tomorrow I'll take them all off the wall -

Re-arrange them -

And try to balance them out -

As best I can - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
