Handy notion -

Here’s a handy little sewing/seam guide - here -

That you can screw into your machine’s standard screw hole for attachments -

See the hole on the far right? -

Only problem is -

My favorite machine doesn’t have one - ;))

QJ - "Nothing" Quilts

QUILT JOURNAL - "NOTHING" QUILTS

Wholecloth pre-quilted panels
Baby quilts
Started - September 1994
Completed - December 1994

Made for Grandson #1 -

I always referred to these little quilts as "Nothing" quilts -

Since there was "Nothing" to them - ;))

The pre-quilted panels only required binding in the color of my choice -
  • 2 pkgs of quilt binding for each quilt - or -
  • 3 pkgs to bind 2 panels in the same color

Warning!! - Panels may be printed crooked -
Straightening was required on some -

Radio Funny -

Heard it on the radio -

She was going to be giving away tickets -

"In about exactly one hour" -

Now I’m not quite sure if she meant -

“In ABOUT an hour” -

OR -

“In EXACTLY one hour” -

But I’m pretty sure -

That it couldn't be both - ;))

LTRTCWSA - Bottoms - Flaps

Another episode of -

Leisurely Turtle Race to Christmas with Squirrels Allowed - ;))

Back to the cute little Christmas Stockings -

Bottoms Up! - (c) 2001 - Calico Moon Handcrafts -

Now they need flaps in the back -

Three little “Bottoms” -

Needed three little “Flaps” -

I wasted spent some time trying some patchwork options -

But I decided that “plain” suited me just fine -

Finished up the green one -

And then the other two -

They are just TOO CUTE!!

Should have made these little darlings YEARS ago!! - ;))

Sewing Tip -

Here’s a tip that I ran across accidentally -

While I was looking for something else - ;))

It's one of those things that -

If I had actually been LOOKING for it -

I may never have found it -

And we all know how that goes - ;))

Anyway -

Check this out - here -

I'm trying it out -

It does take a little getting used to -

But I think I LIKE it - ;))

LindaJ - Trade - Part 2

In between other stuff -

I'm still playing with LindaJ’s box of scraps -

What FUN!! - ;))

The baggie in the bottom left corner -

Had a bunch of 2” squares partially sewn together -

Some were in strips of 3 - or 4 -

Some were in strips of 5 - or 6 - or 7 -

I spent a lazy day “unsewing” them all -

And got this -

PERFECT bits and pieces for some Foundation Paper Piecing - ;))

LTRTCWSA - Bottoms Up - 10/22/12

DESIGN WALL MONDAY - 10/22/12
Check out all of us who link up with Judy L. at Patchwork Times on Mondays.
We have some awesome stuff on our walls!
Well, THEY do - ME - not so much sometimes - ;))
===

Another episode of -

Leisurely Turtle Race to Christmas with Squirrels Allowed - ;))

Back to the cute little Christmas Stockings -

The pattern is "Bottoms Up!" - (c) 2001 - Calico Moon Handcrafts -

When it came time to stitch the fused toesies and heels -

I chose a plain old blanket stitch -

And after stitching the first heel -

I realized that I really should use something as a stabilizer -

So I pulled out some of my handy-dandy coffee filters -

Folded them in half -

And then in half again -

And cut along the folds -

Then I cut off an outer ring -

The outer ring will stabilize the toesie -

And the center section will stabilize the heel -

One coffee filter for each “Bottom” -

Left foot - right foot - front and back -

That should work - ;))

QJ - Rainbow Zebra

QUILT JOURNAL - RAINBOW ZEBRA

Wholecloth preprinted panel
Machine quilted
Baby quilt
Started - June 1994
Completed - October 20, 1994

Made for Grandson #1 -

Preprinted "Rainbow Zebra" panel -
2 yards red for border & back -
2 pkgs of navy quilt binding

I had figured on 2 yards for the border and back then couldn't remember how I arrived at that amount after I bought it. It took a while to re-think it.

County Fair - August 1995 -

Won second place -

Our daughter won 3rd place in the same division for a quilt she made for her niece.
You can barely see it hanging to the right of the Rainbow Zebra quilt at the Fair.
It's pink and white against a white wall - so it's really hard to see - but it's really CUTE! - ;))

Block #60 - Time & Tide

I know that my points/corners are not perfect in this block -

There are a LOT of seams coming together in those corners -

And I DID think about trying to fix them -

For about two minutes - ;))

And then I decided -

That it was the best that I could do at the time -

And that if anyone wanted to waste spend their time -

Trying to find THIS particular block in the finished quilt -

In order to criticize ponder the imperfect points -

That they could go right ahead - ;))

And that I had other Squirrels to attend to - ;))

I had to laugh -
The top one on each stack -
Is one that I had in MY stash -
Just proves that great minds DO think alike - ;))

Thanks, LindaJ!! - ;))

LTRTCWSA - Bottoms - Again

Another episode of -

Leisurely Turtle Race to Christmas with Squirrels Allowed - ;))

Since I messed up on the gingerbread girl’s dress -

I decided to use a solid RED for the toesies and heels -

I figure that if the RED doesn’t have a RIGHT side -

Or a WRONG side -

It would be pretty hard for me to fuse the stuff -

To the WRONG side -

I just had to make sure to cut -

Both LEFT and RIGHT toesies - ;))

Then I cut the facings -

And saw another squirrel - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
