Sorting -

The pieces for a puzzle -

Is a LOT  easier -

When they have letters on the back - LOL -

So - while my daughter resorts the remaining pieces -

Of "Tiger Lagoon" -

Now that we have a better idea of what goes in the missing sections -

I'm sorting the pieces for another one -

So they will be ready when we are -

Then tomorrow I want to sort these jelly rolls -

For another project -

Sorting strips is MUCH more FUN -

Than sorting puzzle pieces - LOL - ;))

The top -

Is connected -

To the bottom -

Yay!! -

We still have some large holes to fill -

And that may take us a while -

This puzzle is  "Tiger Lagoon" -
Buffalo Games -  2000 pieces -

And there are no letters on the back -

To help tell us where the pieces go -

So we're taking our time -

And having FUN with it -

It's like a quilt -

It takes as long as it takes - LOL - ;))

The last ten -

Of these Churn Dash blocks -

Will join their friends -

To make a "Deep Ocean" Churn Dash quilt top -

"Deep Ocean" is the name of the charm packs that I used -

And the first four of this batch -

Will soon have their own friends -

My daughter has a PLAN - LOL - ;))

A little sewing -

And I got the parts -

In the top and bottom rows of these piles -

Sewn together -

To make the rows in these piles -

But then I got sidetracked -

Because my daughter found another set of charm packs to play with -

And laid out the parts for four new blocks -

And I couldn't resist playing with them, too -

These are going to be pretty -

I'll show you tomorrow -

After I get them sewn together - ;))

Ten more -

Churn Dash blocks were sewn together today -

Black/Color -

To go with the White/Color ones from the other day -

So that leaves me with one more batch to sew -

Color/Black -

And I should be able to get those together -

In the next day or two - ;))

Same -

As yesterday -

And the day before -

Since today was another "chore" day -

And I didn't sew a single stitch -

Maybe tomorrow - ;))

More trimming -

Of the rest of the HST -

For my Churn Dash blocks -

Was at the top of my "to do list" today -

I thought that I would just get it over with -

Since it's not my favorite thing to do -

When I was rid of that "chore"-

I made another set of piles -

For the last batch of blocks -

Now I don't have to switch between trimming and sewing -

I can make the rest of the blocks -

Which is MUCH more fun than trimming HST - LOL - ;))

Sewing -

The top and bottom rows -

On the first batch of Black/Color Churn Dash blocks -

Reminded me that I needed to trim the rest of the HST -

Which is not my favorite chore -

So if sewed them together first -

I could switch off between sewing/making blocks -

And trimming HST -

So I sewed and pressed the second batch of HST units -

And the "bars" -

Set them to one side -

And called it a day -

I can pick up where I left off - tomorrow - ;))

Sometimes -

I surprise myself -

And have a REALLY good idea -

That saves me some time and trouble - LOL -

I finished sewing the bottom row -

On the 10 White/Color Churn Dash blocks -

Pressed them all nice and neat -

And put them up on the design wall -

Then it was time to trim the first batch of Black/Color HST -

The ones in the back are for the next batch -

I already had the middle rows sewn together -

And THAT was my REALLY good idea -

Because -

After the first batch of Black/Color HST were trimmed -

It was easy to grab a "middle" row -

And lay out the other two matching "bars" -

And the four corner HST -

To make the block -

And there was no "guessing" -

As to which "way" the Black/Color pieces went -

The "middle" row told me all I needed to know - LOL -

In this batch - the Black goes next to the White -

So I made a pile to sew together tomorrow -

Then I can play with the other set of Black/Color HST and bars -

Those will have the Black/Color reversed -

And the "middle" row tells me -

In this batch - the Colors go next to the White  -

So - there will be no "thinking" involved -

I already DID that part - LOL - ;))

Trimming -

The HST reminded me -

That I should trim the quilts that I finished quilting recently -

While the kitchen island is cleared off -

So I did -

And I made a pile on the back of the chair -

Where they can wait until I find the binding I made already -

Or make some to match -

Then I trimmed the first set of four White/Color HST -

And laid them out on the ironing board -

With the matching "bars" -

And trimmed and stacked the rest of them -

And sewed the top rows together -

And made a pile of those -

And sewed the bottom rows -

And made a pile of those -

Pressed them all - nice and neat -

Then added the pile of middle rows -

That I sewed a couple of days ago -

Sewed the middle row to the top row -

And made a pile of the matched sets with the bottom rows -

To be sewn tomorrow -

Or whenever - LOL - ;))

Happy Birthday, Blog!! -

Eleven years ago today I posted my very FIRST post –

WOO HOO!! -

So - that makes today my Blog’s Eleventh Birthday!! -

Some call it a Blogoversary -

So – for them - today is my Blog’s Eleventh Blogoversary!! -

I just say – “Happy Birthday, Blog!!” -

And what I said in previous years is still true -

Only the number of years has changed - ;))

===

These past ELEVEN years have been very interesting -

I have met some wonderful people - from all over the world -

Some are left-handed -

Some are right-handed -

THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!! -

To the lefties – I say –

  • TIHIDI - This Is How I Do It.
  •  I hope this blog has helped you.
To the righties – I say –
  • Just reverse the directions. ;))
  • It’s not as easy as it sounds.

Right-handers have all the resources in the world available to them.

Left-handers aren’t so lucky. Our resources are very limited. We have to use patterns, books, and tools designed for right-handers and are constantly told to “just reverse the directions.” It’s NOT that easy! Some of my right-handed friends have come to realize that when they tried to “reverse” some of my tutorials.

For the past ELEVEN years - I have tried to reduce the global confusion once and for all by offering hints - tutorials - resources - or whatever else I could think of - to help with quilting challenges. I wrote some tutorials and tried to explain how I do things and then showed you how I do it. They are listed on the "Left-Handed Quilting" page - if you're interested - ;))

For the past ELEVEN years - I have also tried to be perfectly clear that there is always more than one way to do things. I'm not saying that my way is the fastest - or the easiest - or the best. But maybe, just maybe - it will help you figure out a way that will work for you.

For the past ELEVEN years - because doing things left-handed really is like speaking a foreign language - I created a new language. I wrote my instructions in what I like to call - "LEFTISH" - or "LEFT-EZE" - and I got to say - "If you are right-handed - just reverse it." That's one of those phrases that - as a Lefty - is REALLY fun to say - ;))

For the past ELEVEN years - I have also said that I don't pretend to know everything - and can only tell you how I do it. I even made up another new word - "TIHIDI" - "This Is How I Do It" - if you say it out loud, it sounds kinda like "Tahiti" - and that's still kinda cool!!

One year -

I designed a LEFT-Handed Ruler -

For cutting HST and QST - LEFT-Handed -

That I call my LEFT-EZE™ Rule  -

And I added a tab at the top to tell you all about it -

Last year I discovered the wonderful world of "watercolor painting" -

Now I blog -

Watercolor -

And SEW - ;))

Sewing -

The "middle" rows together -

Seemed like a good idea -

So I did -

I still have to sew the last batch of HST and "bars" -

And then trim all of the HST -

Which are sewn "over-sized" and then trimmed -

Which is not my favorite method of making them -

But now I don't have to worry about remembering -

Which blocks need which "centers" -

Because that part is already done - LOL - ;))
