Moving on -

My friends convinced me to leave the threads exposed -

On the back of the Noah's Ark baby quilt panel -

So now all I have to do is trim and bind it -

I found some pre-packaged Extra Wide Bias Tape

That I think will work for the binding -

Then next up -

Is the Bee Happy panel -

I pressed the panel -

And basted the zippers to a plain white muslin backing -

Loaded the backing on the frame -

Then basted the batting in place -

It's about time for some machine maintenance -

Oiling and such -

So - I need to do that tomorrow -

Before I start to quilt this panel -

I want to play with one more practice panel -

Before I quilt the PINK flower panel -

So this should do nicely - ;))

Quilted -

The Noah's Ark baby quilt panel is officially quilted -

I finished up the GOLD/YELLOW in the Ark -

And the lions -

And the giraffes -

And the top corners -

So I need to un-baste the zippers -

And trim it -

And make some binding -

I think I'll find some fabric to make another backing for it -

Right now it has a muslin backing -

And all of the colored stitching shows -

The lighting in these photos is not the best -

But you get the idea -

Anyway - I could hide all of that stitching -

With another backing - ;))

Gold/Yellow -

Was next on the Noah's Ark baby quilt panel -

So I started with the bird beaks on the right side -

The GOLD/YELLOW outline is "cleaner" -

Than the WHITE one that I stitched earlier -

So there IS improvement -

Then I tried "Lazy 8s" or "Wishbones" in the rainbow stripe -

And decided that those are much easier to do "straight up/down" -

Than they are to do "sideways" -

And a little texture in the Camel's face that you can hardly see -

I still have some GOLD/YELLOW to do in the Ark -

And the Lions on the right -

And the Giraffes at the bottom -

And the top corners -

So that's on the agenda for tomorrow - ;))

Gray -

Was next on the Noah's Ark baby quilt panel -

So I started with the elephant on the left side -

Then the zebra head in the middle -

And the one on the right side -

Then the elephant on the right side -

Nothing fancy -

Just outlining and echoing from the outside edge to the center -

Then I rolled it up a bit to get to the hippo -

I thought the light GRAY area might be a good place to try something special -

Because - if I messed up - it wouldn't be seen -

But then I couldn't see what I was doing -

So I said "never mind" and did some meandering lines -

Then I outlined the clamshells in GRAY -

And I'm getting better!! -

The first section that I did the other day in BROWN was messy -

And the GREEN was a little better -

There are still some wobbles -

But the GRAY is MUCH better -

I tried to slow down and "look ahead" -

And found that it was actually easier to do "one-handed" -

Tomorrow I'll change to a GOLD/YELLOW thread -

And try to finish the rest of this panel - ;))

A little more red -

At the bottom side borders -

And the bottom border -

And I thought I was done with the RED -

Until I realized that I didn't outline the RED parts -

In the bird at the bottom -

Between the RED arcs and the BLUE teardrops -

But - how do I outline those RED bits -

Without breaking thread on every single one of them? -

Hmmm -

Remember the other day when I had a "DUH" moment -

When I realized that any area can be outlined in either of TWO colors -

The "inside" one or the "outside" one? -

Well - here's a perfect example -

Instead of outlining the RED arcs in RED -

I outlined the BLUE bits on the "inside" of the arc -

Same difference -

And I solved the "breaking thread" problem -

By "traveling" in the BLUE background to the next one -

Now I'm down to the last TWO colors -

The GOLD/YELLOW and the GRAY -

I'm going to do the GRAY next -

The elephants and zebra heads -

Then I'll have to roll it -

To get to the rest of the elephant on this side -

And the hippo on this side -

I also decided to change to the cone thread -

For both the top and bobbin -

On the GOLD/YELLOW and GRAY -

That might help with the tension problems - ;))

Red -

Was next on the Noah's Ark baby quilt panel -

So I started with the rainbow at the top -

And decided to do pebbles -

The ones on the other side look better -

Then I did the birds -

And the tension was getting funky -
With little white "pokies" showing through -

So I tried to fix it -

And moved on to the side borders -

With more pebbles -

Then I did the hippo's mouth with echoing -

I still have the rest of the side borders -

And the bottom border to do in RED -

But I'll finish that up tomorrow - ;))

Green -

Was next on the Noah's Ark baby quilt panel -

This is for you - Jennifer - LOL -

There is the mountain under the Ark -

And some leaves -

And the two bottom corners -

So I pulled out some of my GREEN threads -

And chose the dark one - second from the left -

It blends in on the dark leaves -

And it outlines the other leaves pretty well -

Even though it shows my wobbles -

And it shows up on the "clamshell" part of the mountain -

I don't know what possessed me to try pebbles in that space on the right -

But I didn't like it -

And decided to do something different in the other GREEN sections -

Then - to be consistent -

I had to do pebbles in the same section on the other corner -

I guess - all in all - they don't look that bad -

But I should have given it more thought before I did it -

I think I'm down to RED - GOLD/YELLOW - and GRAY -

So I'll decide which one I want to stitch tomorrow -

Tomorrow - LOL - ;))
