Design Wall Monday - 10/27/14
DESIGN WALL MONDAY -
Check out all of us who link up with Judy L. -
At Patchwork Times on Mondays.
We have some awesome stuff on our walls!
Well, THEY do - ME - not so much sometimes - ;))
===
IT'S A FLIMSY!! -
IT'S A FLIMSY!! -
Easy Street Detour Around The World -
Is FINALLY a FLIMSY!! - ;))
TA DAH!! - ;))
This puppy is HUGE!! - ;))
The bed in the photo is King-size -
And the quilt top has a nice "drop" on both sides - ;))
It started out as EASY STREET -
Bonnie Hunter's 2012 Mystery Quilt Easy Street - HERE -
But I switched out her colors and chose my own - ;))
Then I took a slight DETOUR when I swapped some colors mid-mystery -
Most of the CHOCOLATE bits would have been RASPBERRY -
If I had stayed with my original substitutions -
And that would have been WAY TOO MUCH raspberry for me - ;))
Then I added my own AROUND THE WORLD border -
So I call my version -
EASY STREET DETOUR AROUND THE WORLD - ;))
Of all of the Bonnie Hunter patterns and mysteries that I have made -
And I LOVE her patterns -
I think that this one is my FAVORITE!! - ;))
It has enough variety in the blocks to make it interesting -
It's relatively easy -
And it has a TON of little bitty pieces - ;))
I also like the "on point" setting -
And I like how the blocks blend into one another -
They don't end where you think they do - ;))
It took me a LONG time because I'm a S-L-O-W P-O-K-E Quilter -
And it did get tedious at times -
BUT -
I think that I will DEFINITELY make this one again!! - ;))
Thanks, Bonnie!! - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

It looks great. I am just glad I don't have to quilt it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Of course I've loved your color choices from the beginning. But now seeing it on the bed just makes it that much more fabulous. You did good girl!! ;0)
I like your color choices over Bonnie's too. But that's what makes quilting so much fun - we can change things up as we want! Some day...;. I will finally use my scraps and make something interesting.....
Looking oh so good! What an accomplishment to get this bazillion pieced top done but adding your own unique spin to result. Patterns sometimes are suggestions I think. Now you have a blend of hers and yours, taking it to another level.
Thanks, Linda - I'm just glad that it's DONE - ;))
Thanks, Gene - this one of those projects that may never get quilted in my lifetime - it's HUGE - and would be expensive to have done professionally - and a "Bear" if I were to do it on my own - but you never know - I might try it one of these days - ;))
Thanks, Katie - I like changing it up - it's similar but not EXACTLY the same - ;))
Thanks, Linda - I LIKE the bazillion piece tops - it looks like it took me some time to do it - and it DID - haha - ;)) I didn't plan to change anything but the colors - but I had fun trying to figure out how to salvage it when I realized that I didn't want THAT much raspberry in my quilt - and most of the "units" had already been sewn - ;))
Well look at you. It's finally off the wall. Maybe you can participate in this year's mystery now that you have free space on the wall? :)
Yeah, FINALLY!! - This year's mystery?? - Maybe - haven't decided yet - probably will - I DO have free space on the wall and I gotta fill it up with SOMETHING - might as well be a NEW project - ;))
I love your tweak of the pattern ... and chocolate would be my choice too ...
Wish I could come and help you quilt it. It needs to be more than decorating a bed.
Thanks, Julie - it's OK with me if it never gets quilted - it served its purpose. I like to say that sewing/quilting gives me something to do and keeps me out of bars at night. This one gave me something to do for quite a while - and the joke is that I don't drink - ;))
Absolutely beautiful! You must have it quilted, it is too lovely to not be on display.
Thanks, Rose - it may get quilted someday - either when I can afford to have someone do it for me - or when I decide to tackle it myself on my "domestic" sewing machine - unless I buy a long-arm machine - and I could get a whole BUNCH of quilts quilted for what those things cost - so it might just sit there and look pretty for a while - ;))
