Something NEW on my wall!! -
WOO HOO!! -
I said on Saturday that I wanted to play with these -
Well - those were a couple of packs of 10" squares -
The ones on the left are the prints -
The ones on the right are the solids -
I had made a test block a couple of months ago - HERE -
And used the YouTube video -
Missouri Star Quilt Co.
The Churn Dash Quilt Block - Easy Quilting - HERE -
I didn't want to use white/muslin for the background -
Because it's BORING -
So I dug out some Blue -
And started with the solids -
And made three blocks -
Before I figured out my assembly line routine -
For the next four -
And got these done in an afternoon - ;))
Some of the solids look alike -
But they are different shades of the same colors -
And the prints should liven things up a bit -
So -
After I do my chores -
And work on some business/tax stuff -
I want to play with the prints - ;))

I always love the churn dash. I really like the dark background you have chosen. Have fun playing with those prints.
It is always interesting to see how different people approach things. I would have used the solids for backgrounds and the prints for the design part.
Thanks, Karen - I think the darker background will make it gender neutral - and since today is a holiday I think that I'll work on the business/tax stuff tomorrow and play today - ;))
You know, I was going to do that - that's why I separated the solids and the prints in the first place. I thought that I would have the same number of each and be able to pair them up - but I had more prints than solids - mostly tone-on-tone except for ONE with flowers. Then I realized that I could get more blocks if I used them ALL for the design part and used something ELSE for the background - so I shifted gears - ;))
It seems those prints rather read as solids so I probably would have mixed them all up. I like the way you are doing it though.
Thanks, Julie - you're right - most of them do - but there is one with big polka dots and one with stripes and another with flowers. They are all bright colors that go nicely with the blue. I have another pack of the same fabrics - and could pair them up with each other - but I can get twice as many blocks from the pack if I pair them with something else - ;))
Speaking of ..... Love that BLUE background!!! And your blocks. ;o)
Thanks, Linda - I wanted something gender-neutral - and I think the BLUE fit the bill. I want to do the second pack in GREEN or ORANGE or PURPLE - haven't decided yet - ;))
