Border Update - 8/21/15
So last time I showed you this -
I cut the strips for the inner border -
From a really pretty white-on-white -
But when I trimmed off the selvages -
And put the strips on the wall -
They came up SHORT - ;))
Don't you love it when your quilt talks to you? - ;))
I think mine was saying -
"Nope - not that one!! - Try something else!!" - ;))
So I put some of the charm squares back up on the wall -
Chose one -
Cut the strips -
Made the borders -
And - instead of running out of bobbin thread an inch BEFORE the end of the seam -
I actually had about four inches of bobbin thread left at the end - ;))
I took that as a good sign -
Until I laid them out -
And scared myself - ;))
The right side lined up nicely -
But one border was off by about 1/2" on the left side - ;))
Then I realized that I had "scooched" it over a little when I laid them out -
And that it wasn't short at all - ;))
WHEW!! - ;))
So - a bit more sewing -
And Voila!! - ;))
I know my photos don't enlarge when you click on them -
So here are a couple of close-ups -
For your viewing pleasure - haha - ;))
I like it -
What do you think? - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

It had to be fate because the purple/mauve/pinkish border looks SO great. The white was ok, just no wow factor. I especially like your use of the inner border surrounding the cornerstones. I'll have to try it out soon.
Thanks, Abby - the inner border surrounding the cornerstones was NOT MY IDEA - Judy Sisneros suggested it in her book "9-Patch Pizzazz" - and since I was making her quilt - I figured I might as well use her border technique, too - ;)) It is cool, though and I may be using it again in the near future - thanks, Judy!! - ;))
yep, I like it, too. If my quilts didn't 'talk' to me, heaven knows what I'd end up with! Even when quilting, I will put a quilt on the frame with no idea what I'm going to do so I just start moving and before I know it, something clicks and it's working.....
Thanks, Katie - whatever works! I'm not sure exactly what goes on while I'm sleeping - but I think the "lilac" may have sabotaged the "white-on-white" because I didn't listen the first time it said - "Pick me - Pick me!!" - ;))
