Halloween Sudoku - Border Dilemma -

I got the Halloween Sudoku blocks together - ;))

And since it was already "cut and kitted" -
I had already chosen the side border strip -
I figured that I could trim it up and cut it in half for the left and right sides -

And I had already chosen the top border strip -
I figured that I could trim that up and cut it in half for the top/bottom borders -
But it's too short - so I'll need some cornerstones - ;))

I got the center done and put it all up on the design wall -

And I don't like it -

It's too busy -

And just doesn't look right -

So now it's back to the drawing board - ;))

Since I've already used orange in the cornerstones -

And black in the sashing -

What's left for the border?? -

More black?? - ;))

I only need about 1/3 yard - but that is more than a fat quarter -

So I need to check the yardage in my stash - ;))

I have some black with white dots that might work -

And I have some darker orange tone-one-tone - ;))

Any ideas?? -

I'm open to any and all suggestions - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

I would take a very light color like the lightest on in the sudoku. We call this beige in the Netherlands or cremy white could also, because of the dark light combination, it makes a distance for the new border
Who your a busybee at the moment.

Thanks, Gerda - I might try that - and we call it "beige" here, too. Or maybe I'll try a light yellow. I usually tend to go with "darker" borders - like a dark frame on a picture - but this time a "light" one might be better. Oh, the possibilities - gotta check my stash - ;))

I agree it is cute but too busy. Yes, something light but maybe not a solid but something that reads as a solid. Yesterday I went to a nice quilt show and took a peek at all the shops outside. I saw a bunch of Halloween prints all cut into packs. (I notice them because that is my birthday). I didn't buy anything there but now I am thinking I could have gotten a pack and cut them all to make a sudoku table runner. I think those blocks wouldn't have to be cut in exact squares and I could use longer strips so it would make an interesting table runner. Well, thinking is cheaper than spending money on fabrics but some day I might have a table runner for October.

Halloween prints are SO fun!! And "Happy Birthday!" early - just in case I forget - ;)) I'm posting some border candidates tomorrow - let me know what you think. And a table runner version of a Sudoku Quilt sounds interesting. I have been thinking of "up-sizing" one to make a "Baby Quilt" version - great minds and all that - ;))
