What size -

Do I want to make my LHQ Sampler Quilt #2? -

Hmmm - decisions - decisions - ;))

I played in EQ7 with various sizes -

And narrowed it down to these two -

LHQSQ2-Version A

49.5 square
5x5 on-point layout - 4x4 blocks with one round of border blocks
25 Sampler Blocks - 6" finished
16 Border Blocks - 6" finished
Yardage for the Gray areas - 2-1/2 - 3 yd
Yardage for the Beige/Sashes - 1 - 1-1/4 yd

LHQSQ2-Version B

59.4 square
6x6 on-point layout - 4x4 blocks with two rounds of border blocks
25 Sampler Blocks - 6" finished
36 Border Blocks - 6" finished
Yardage for the Gray areas - 3-1/4 - 3-1/2 yd
Yardage for the Beige/Sashes - 1-1/4 - 1-1/2 yd

They are both worked up in gray-scale so you can imagine your own colors -

The yardage requirements are per EQ7 with a little extra "insurance" added by me -

I have plenty of yardage and will probably use a 4 yd piece for the Border Blocks, etc. and a 2 yd piece for the Sashing - and will most likely make Version A - I can always add another round of border blocks if I want it larger later -

The Sampler Blocks can be made from scraps - jelly rolls - FQ - or yardage - your choice - the number of "units" you can get from a strip will depend on the length of your strips - LOL - ;))

I've already decided on the colors I want to use -

And - just because - I'm going to do this whole thing "backwards" -

Rather than start with the Sampler Blocks -

I'm going to start with the Border Blocks - Side Triangles - and Corners -

Get them cut - and up on the wall -

Get the Sashing - Cornerstones - cut and assembled -

Then I'll play with the Sampler Blocks -

And put them on the wall as I make them -

It'll be like "fill in the blanks" - LOL - ;))

So - if you want to play along -

Think about the colors you want for your Sampler Quilt -

It might be easier to choose your Border Blocks and Sashing colors first -

That's what I did -

The Sampler Blocks can have as many or as few colors as you want -

It's YOUR quilt -

If you like red - orange - blue - green - then DO it!! -

My original LHQSQ was mainly red - brown - gold - neutrals - but some blocks have touches of orange - green - blue - yellow - purple - it's subtle and gives the viewer a little something extra - ;))

I'll show you my color choices for my LHQSQ 2.0 tomorrow - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

The first one -

Was/is pretty big - ;))

I re-created the shell for my LHQSQ in EQ7 - with a 9 x 10 on-point layout -

98 Center Blocks - the center 7 x 8 "Sampler" part -

64 Border Blocks - the outer two rows of Brown blocks -

For a total of 162 blocks -

According to EQ7 - it measures 89.095 x 98.995 -

So let's say 89 x 99 -

All with 6" blocks - 1" sashing and cornerstones -

I must have been crazy -

But I do remember wanting to make 99 9-patches -

Just to see if I could -

And I did -

So there's that - ;))

This time I'm going for something smaller -

MUCH smaller - ;))

I'll play some more in EQ7 -

To see what I can come up with - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
