For the past couple of years -
LindaL and I have played a little game -
We call it our -
Leisurely Race To Christmas With Squirrels Allowed -
LRTCWSA for short - ;))
Instead of waiting until the last minute to begin our Christmas gift making -
We start the day after Christmas -
Work on Christmas stuff all year long -
At a L-E-I-S-U-R-E-L-Y pace -
And then declare the Race a "tie" on November 30 of the next year - ;))
Whatever gets done by then -
Gets done by then - ;))
We work on Christmas gifts throughout the year -
No stress - no pressure -
Just a head start on everybody else -
Especially those who don’t start until AFTER Thanksgiving -
And we get to enjoy Christmas all year long - ;))
We started the 2013 Race on the day AFTER Christmas last year -
And since today is November 30 -
I hereby declare the -
Leisurely Race To Christmas With Squirrels Allowed - 2013
A TIE!! - ;))
Whatever we didn’t finish -
Will automatically carry over to next year’s Race - ;))
We will begin our -
Leisurely Race To Christmas With Squirrels Allowed - 2014 -
On the day AFTER Christmas -
And end on November 30, 2014 - ;))
Be sure to join us!! - ;))
It’s FUN!! - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

So what is the deal with "Squirrels" ???????
You need to push me through the year :-) I know there are blogs who work on something for Christmas on a certain day every month - maybe I should get involved, but would probably fall by the wayside.... So what did you finish?
Gotta say, that I love your approach to this! Declare a tie between you two. I still have half of these tree skirt #3 to go if any of that counts towards my approach to this "contest"
"Squirrels" are what I call distractions - new projects - and shiny objects - ;))
I got it from the movie "UP" - ;))
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Up_%282009_film%29
In the movie - the dog - whose name is "DUG" - would get distracted by a squirrel - and shout out "SQUIRREL". He was always getting distracted and always shouting out "SQUIRREL" - ;))
So when I get distracted - which is quite often - I call the them "SQUIRRELS". And I see SQUIRRELS everywhere - so we HAD to allow for them in our little race - ;)) Do a search on my blog for "squirrel" - you'll see - ;))
NO pushing or pulling is allowed!! NO stress - NO pressure!! - ;))
And define "finish" - haha - ;)) If you define it as "quilted and ready to give" - I'm not sure that I "finished" anything this year. Linda did, of course, she always does. But whether or not we "finish" anything is irrelevant - the rules don't say that you have to FINISH anything - just "play with Christmas stuff" during the year and not wait until after Thanksgiving like everyone else - ;))
ANYTHING Christmas related counts!! - And if you don't finish it by November 30 - you can keep working on it OR carry it over to the next year - it doesn't matter. The "Race" will always be a "tie" no matter how many "Racers" we have - ;)) The whole point is to NOT wait until after Thanksgiving to play with our Christmas stuff!! It is so much fun and so much less stressful to pull out something - in January or February or April or any other month - that is Christmas related - and work on it at a L-E-I-S-U-R-E-L-Y pace. We "enter" whatever it is in the "Race" - and get to enjoy Christmas all year long - ;))
