New projects -
Well - semi-"new" -
Sometimes if I hold onto something for a LOOOOONG time -
It seems "new" again when I "rediscover" it - LOL - ;))
Mint Chip has been a UFO for a while -
Seems like I made these blocks way back in June 2013 - HERE -
The blocks are beautiful batiks -
Luscious BLUES - GREENS - BROWNS -
I knew that I wanted to do a layout similar to Citrus Chips -
6 x 8 layout - 48 blocks -
Approximately 48" x 64" -
I used the same pattern -
So I knew that I would be 8 blocks short -
And would need a "spacer" block fabric to fill in the "holes" -
So I auditioned a couple of batiks that I had in my stash -
This one didn't quite "go" with them - but it was a possible maybe -
If I couldn't find something "better" -
This next one has too much PINK and ORANGE to suit me -
But these two were more on the BLUE - GREEN - side -
So looked like a better choice -
I auditioned them with another block in the middle of the stack -
And they look pretty good -
The one on top is a bit on the "dark side" - LOL -
But I can get 5 blocks from the other one -
And three "darker" blocks shouldn't be that bad -
So - I put the blocks that I had up on the design wall -
In no particular order -
Just rotated them - horizontal - vertical - horizontal - vertical - etc. -
I LOVE the colors in this one!! -
Tomorrow I plan to cut the "spacer" blocks -
And play with the layout a bit -
See if those "spacer" blocks work - ;))

Even though I usually talk about what I did "today" -
Because I post my stuff at 12:30AM the next morning -
It's actually what I did "yesterday" -
In "real life" - LOL - ;))
So - this post will "go live" on Saturday morning - August 1, 2020 -
But it's actually what I did on Friday - July 31, 2020 - ;))

Anyway -
Before I could "web" my Citrus Chips top -
I needed to check to see which way the seams were going in each block -
I made these blocks so long ago -
And pressed them ALL the same way -
Not paying attention to which way they might be rotated in the final layout -
Lucky for me - only a couple of the seams in each block were "set" -
The others could be pressed in a different direction if needed -
So -
I figured the easiest way to "see" what was going on with the seams -
Was to put them all on the wall "backwards" -
With the "right" side of the block to the wall -
And the "seam side" showing -
So I took each row off - one at a time -
And put them back on the wall - from right to left - with the seams showing -
When I got done - I had the "backside" of the top facing me -
And I could see ALL of the seams -
The blocks alternate - with the row seams going vertically and then horizontally -
So it was easy enough to "switch" the seams as needed -
I checked each column first -
And put a pin next to any seam that needed to be pressed in THAT direction -
So it would nest with the one above/below it -
Then I checked the rows -
And marked the seams the same way -
I re-pressed all of the blocks to set the seams -
Checked them again -
And decided that I would wait until Saturday to "web" the top -
Had some dinner -
Then played some games -
And about 8:00PM -
I got to thinking -
I wonder if I could web this top -
And have Flimsy #7 for July -

You're SO CLOSE - at least try - see if you can do it!! -
It shouldn't take you THAT long!!
So - I thought I'd give it a try -
And I did it - with an hour to spare -
Just enough time to take some photos and write up this post -
By 11:00PM - I had another flimsy -
Ta Dah!! -
Citrus Chips -
Flimsy #7 this month -
The colors are so YUMMY -
CORAL - GREEN - YELLOW -
So that makes SEVEN flimsys for July -
And THAT is a record for me -
And I have Mint Chip to play with -
So I should have at least ONE for August -
And BOB is daring me to do EIGHT -
But I don't think so - LOL - ;))
