LHQSQ - Adding 4-Patches to the Mix

DESIGN WALL MONDAY -
Check out all of us who link up with Judy L. at Patchwork Times on Mondays.
We have some awesome stuff on our walls!
Well, THEY do - ME - not so much sometimes - ;))

============

Note - these instructions are written in LEFTISH.
If you are right-handed - just reverse the directions.
============

My Left-Handed Quilter's Sampler Quilt -

LHQSQ - See the page/tab above -

So far -

Is comprised of 6” sampler blocks -

That you can make using -

2-1/2” squares -

HST that FINISH at 2” -

And Strips - cut 1-1/2” x 2-1/2” -

Three across and three down -

Variations of the basic NINE-PATCH -

The sewn block will MEASURE 6-1/2” -

And FINISH at 6” -

===

Now I’m going to add another element -

4-Patches that FINISH at 2”

Because -

4 squares that are 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” -

When sewn together -

Into a 4-Patch -

Will measure 2-1/2” square -

And FINISH at 2” -

Just like everything else - ;))

===

You can cut them individually -

Or -

You can make strip sets -

Because -

2 strips that are 1-1/2” wide -

When sewn together -

Along the LONG side -

Can be cut into 1-1/2” segments -

And the segments can then be sewn -

Into a 4-Patch -

Which will FINISH at 2” square -

You can cut 4 segments from a 6-1/2” long strip set -
(1-1/2” x 4 = 6” plus some wiggle room)

Or 8 segments from a 12-1/2” long strip set -
(1-1/2” x 8 = 12” plus some wiggle room)

===

For simplicity -

I will just list the number of 4-Patches -

That you will need to complete the block -

How you choose to cut and sew them -

Is entirely up to you - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

I love a 4 patch. They are so simple yet they can be so bold. Keep those ideas coming.
