Busy, busy -
Trying to get the quilting done on the GREEN top - ;))
I decided to quilt it the same way that I did another one - HERE - and since I had used a fusible batting - pressed it well - then pinned it to stabilize it - I didn't bother with any "stitch-in-the-ditch" quilting -
Instead - I found the middle of one side and used my walking foot to stitch straight down the center of the column of patches - then skipped the next column to the right - and stitched the next column - two more times - for a total of three lines of quilting before I turned the whole thing 90-degrees - to the left -
Found the middle of the next side - and did another three lines of quilting - turned it another 90-degrees and did the same thing on the third side -
Turning the quilt after every three lines of stitching - eventually working my way to the last column of patches - and stitched in the ditch along the border -
I still have to go back and stitch the rest of the columns/rows -
But first I used my "guide" to quilt two more lines to the right of the last seam -
My walking foot came with two guides - a "right-side" one -
Like The Ultimate Quilt 'n Stitch Presser Foot by Clover - HERE -
And a "left-side" one - which is the one I use - because to me - it makes a whole lot more sense - the guide is on the LEFT - and follows the last line of stitching on the LEFT - with the bulk of the quilt to my LEFT - and not to the RIGHT of the needle - all squished up under the throat of my sewing machine. I'm not really sure - but I don't think the designer of that particular item quilts much - but then again - it's probably just me - and my personal preference - LOL - ;))
Speaking of preferences - I needed to replace my favorite ruler - a 6" x 12" that I have had f.o.r.e.v.e.r. because the lines are pretty near completely worn off -
I would really like one that is 6-1/2" x 12-1/2" but those are hard to find - and the one that I did find - has the numbers going the wrong way - from right to left - with the extra 1/2" on the left. That's OK if you're Right-Handed and cutting on the right side of the ruler - but I'm not and I don't - so the 1/2" on the left means that the 1" mark is actually 1-1/2" from the LEFT - LOL - I'd be off a half inch on every cut. And then there are the ones - like Omnigrid and Quilter's Select - with numbers going both ways - which are trying to be all things to all people - and are just flat out annoying to me with a cluttered design and too much to sift through to find the numbers that I want/need -
So -
While I was trying to decide which one was the least annoying -
I found an old 6" x 12" one in my stash -
Still in the shrink wrap -
It has the numbers going both ways -
So I dug out my handy-dandy LEFT-HANDED RULER CONVERSION KIT -
A set of Avery All Purpose Labels -
And made my own numbers -
Going the way I want them to go -
I only tagged one end -
So I know which end to use -
And I used the end that had the numbers going from LEFT to RIGHT along the long side -
It will do until I find one that I like better -
And Missouri Star Quilt Company has a nice 5" x 15" one - HERE - that has ONE set of numbers - and they go the CORRECT way - for me -
So that's a definite maybe -
Unless I decide to design my own - LOL - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

You know that I am right handed (mostly) but I sometimes find that the numbers go the wrong way for what I need. And I really have to watch those rulers that are x and a half or I will cut from the wrong side and mess up my measurements.
So I feel for you.
I am mostly left handed. . . .but I can rotary cut with either hand. But even with that I have to measure 3 or 4 times before I make a cut to make sure that I am doing it correctly. LOL
While some days I would love the 6.5 x 12.5 ruler, I'd probably find myself cutting stuff a half inch too big all the time...I already have problems with the rulers I'm used to! The quilt seems to be coming along nicely. (And I'm hoping that by using Chrome as my browser on the "smart" phone will permanently solve the inability to leave comments issue...though setting that up only took an hour...)
