Orca Bay - 2/4/12
OK - the First Monday in February - 2/6/12
Is the day after TOMORROW -
And Bonnie is doing another link-up -
Along with Judy L. at Patchwork Times and her regular Design Wall Monday -
So - I better get something up on the wall, huh?
And -
Since I like making “chunks” instead of “rows” -
Here’s my first “chunk” -
Measures 9-1/2” x 9-1/2” -
I just need to make more “wings” for my geese -
Have I mentioned that I LOVE CHAIN-PIECING?? ;))
26 more “wings” -
Enough for 13 more geese -
But before I sew any more "wings" onto my geese -
I want/need to put some pieces up on the wall -
To see what this is going to look like -
With "wings" on my geese!!
First up -
The first "chunk" in the top left corner -
And the rest of the center section -
BOB’s way - aka Orca Bay Bones -
With "wings" -
Well -
That's a tad bit BUSY -
Don't you think?
All of the other photos on all of the other blogs -
Didn’t look nearly as BUSY to me -
As mine does in “real life” -
What if -
I leave the top row alone -
For comparison purposes -
And -
I replace the black wings with white/neutral wings-
In the bottom 2/3 -
NOPE - that's boring -
Or -
I go back to the original version -
And do the layout Bonnie’s way -
In the bottom 2/3 -
NOPE - still TOO BUSY for me -
Gonna have to work on this -
And pretty quick too! ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

I like the playing you're doing with the layout. I sorta like the neutral wings... imagine them spread out over the entire quilt.
I prefer your way. Maybe you see it as being busy because you are looking at it all the time?
Sometimes I think we work so hard on some of these patterns that we get sick of them and aren't happy with anything. Maybe that's where you are right now. How about you don't look at it as a whole top and just sew it piece by piece until you get it finished! And then say..."Finished is GOOD"!
;o)
I think they ALL looked busy! But you're right, the neutral wings looks boring, at least by comparison. You've got probably 24 more hours before you really have to post anything, so keep rearranging and you'll get it right.
