DESIGN WALL MONDAY -
Check out all of us who link up with Judy L. -
At Patchwork Times on Mondays.
We have some awesome stuff on our walls!
Well, THEY do - ME - not so much sometimes - ;))
===
On my wall today -
CRUMB BLOCKS - ;))
Well, actually they're on the little table BELOW the design wall -
Because the 9-patch TWOSIES are still ON the wall -
But they are my project for the week -
So I think that they still count - ;))
Anyway -
I liked them all -
Except this one -
It was too STRAIGHT -
And NOT like the others -
So I took a strip of green and sewed it on at an angle -
Cut it into two chunks -
Added a bit of red to the right side of the LEFT chunk -
And another chunk to the left side of the RIGHT chunk -
Trimmed the RIGHT chunk -
And - Voila!! -
MUCH BETTER - ;))
I have a few more to play with -
Some are almost done -
And some need a bit more - ;))
These silly things are like potato chips -
I can't make just one!! - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

We have some awesome stuff on our walls!
Well, THEY do - ME - not so much sometimes - ;))
===
On my wall today -
Same as last week - ;))
TWOSIES!! -
One of my commenters suggested that I "keep on going" - ;))
I hadn't planned on adding any more -
But I could - ;))
I have another charm pack of the same fabrics -
So I could make another batch with the same background fabric -
OR - make another batch with a darker background fabric -
And add them around the perimeter -
Which might make it look like a "built-in border" -
OR - make another batch with some of the matching yardage -
As the background fabric -
And make a couple of "built-in borders" -
OR - I could do a bunch of other things - ;))
So while I think about it -
And they marinate on the wall -
I decided to play with some crumbs -
As you can see -
I didn't get very far -
But the day ain't over yet - ;))

Happy St. Patrick's Day - 2015 -
A couple of years ago -
I got the top together -
On my St. Patrick’s Day Sudoku Quilt -
In time to post it on St. Patrick's Day - ;))
I got the blocks together and sashed -
And the borders ON!! -
TA DAH!! -
Here’s a close-up of the border fabric -
I tend to go with darker borders for some reason - ;))
Here’s another close-up -
Just because - ;))
You can read more about my Sudoku Quilts -
If you check out the page/tab -
At the top of my blog - ;))
This poor thing is STILL not quilted -
But it IS in the pile -
All ready for a Free-Motion Quilting marathon - ;))
Have a HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!! - ;))

On my wall today -
TWOSIES!! -
I LOVE 9-patches -
I think that they are my FAVORITE block!! -
My Left-Handed Quilter Sampler Quilt -
LHQSQ for short -
Is comprised of Ninety-nine 9-patches -
That I found in EQ7 -
Check out the page/tab at the top of my blog - ;))
These 9-patches were made from a charm pack -
And a Moda Bake Shop Recipe -
Original Recipe - 9-patchtastic - by Monica Solorio-Snow - HERE -
She uses Billie Lauder’s - Nine Patch Units - 2 from 2 method -
Found in her book - Quilt Quick Tricks - (c) 2002
Quick Method - Make Two Units At One TimeThis method is perfect for charm squares -
One - 5 Light / 4 Dark & One 4 Light / 5 Dark
But I had a hard time making them come out the right size -
I don’t know if it was my cutting or my sewing -
But I basically gave up -
And resorted to simply cutting the charms into strips -
After trimming them down to 4-1/2” square -
And getting rid of the dang “pinked” edges -
(Hate those!! - Just cut the dang square straight - thankyouverymuch!!) -
And then using my June Tailor Short Cut (TM) - HERE -
To cut the background strips - ;))
Some match-ups came out better than others -
But they were easily fixed - ;))
When I had both the positive and negative strip sets made -
I put them under the June Tailor Short Cut (TM)-
Sliced them -
Switched out the middle sections -
Sewed them together -
And just kept going - ;))
When I got all of the sets done -
I liked how they looked in the cookie sheets -
So pretty much put them up on the wall -
The same way - ;))
Then I worked on the Churn Dash a little -
Here it is -
On the wall - sideways -
Because it’s easier to reach the top row that way - ;))
So -
What do you see? -
Do you see four rows of six blocks?? -
Not me -
I see six 4-patches -
And that’s how I’m going to put it together - ;))

Happy Pi Day!! -
The mathematical constant pi is -
3.141592653 -
And I almost missed it -
ME - the math nerd -
Almost missed Pi DAY -
3.141592653 - ;))
TODAY - 3/14/15 - at 9:26 and 53 seconds - AM or PM -
Read this story - HERE -
Unless you are a math nerd like me -
And have already read it - ;))
And until the next century -
Happy Pi Day!! - ;))

Something else I learned -
I learned that phone scammers are SCARY!!! - ;((
I screen ALL of my calls -
So when I got a call from the "IRS" the other day -
It went straight to the answering machine -
And when I played it back -
It was all about how I owe the government $$$ -
And that the situation had to be rectified IMMEDIATELY - ;((
The guy gave me his name and badge number -
VERY official sounding -
VERY threatening -
VERY scary -
AND TOTALLY BOGUS!!! -
DO NOT BE FOOLED!!! -
The "IRS" will not just call people "out of the blue" -
They will send several notices in the mail first -
So don't answer the phone -
Let it go to the answering machine -
Or let it go to voice mail -
Or just hang up if you DO answer -
And then report it to the authorities - ;))
I made a note of the information on the "caller ID" -
Which was also probably bogus -
I made a note of the time of the call -
I made a note of what was said -
And then I called my phone service provider to report it - ;))
They took what information I had -
And gave me another number to call -
Similar to the "Do Not Call List" -
But for "Unlawful" and/or threatening calls - ;))
When I called the second number -
They took my information as well -
And gave me the number of the "REAL" IRS -
Also available on the "official" website -
And said that the Federal Trade Commission and FBI -
Are trying to shut the buggers DOWN!!! - ;))
The sooner the better -
If you ask me -
A call like that could give someone a heart attack!!! - ;((
Good thing that BOB knows something that the phone scammers don't -
BOB knows that her taxes are PAID -
And that the scammers are full of CRAP!! - ;))

Happy Friday the 13th - 2015 -
Did you know that any month that begins on a Sunday -
Will have a Friday the 13th in it? - ;))
It's one of those things -
That I never really thought about -
Until recently -
But I think it's really cool - ;))
So if you're wondering when the next one will be -
It's easy -
Nothing fancy -
Just check to see if the month starts on a Sunday - ;))
This year we had one in February -
Then there's March - TODAY -
And we'll have another one in November - ;))
Just another piece of useless information -
Taking up precious space -
In my head - ;))
I wonder if they will discover someday -
That your brain is like a hard drive -
And that when your memory gets "full" -
It just writes over other stuff -
Which is why we forget what we had for lunch yesterday - ;))

Learning new stuff -
I like to learn new stuff -
It’s FUN -
Except for some computer stuff -
Which can be more frustrating than fun at times -
But be that as it may -
While I was NOT blogging lately -
I learned a whole lot of stuff - ;))
I learned that I could NOT blog for a whole month -
AND that my followers would still follow me -
Thank you - one and all - ;))
I learned that my blog “Pageview Stats” are virtually meaningless -
AND that the bulk of my “Audience Stats” are from Russia -
AND that they are not REALLY “Pageviews” at all -
BUT just “bots” -
Also known as “Referrer Spam” -
AND that they are not actually viewing my blog -
AND that I can’t stop it -
BUT that I simply have to ignore it -
AND that I should NEVER click on ANY links to ANY “Referring Sites” -
Just to be safe - ;))
I learned that if you get a new subscription to a magazine -
You are usually offered a free issue -
AND a free special gift edition of something else -
BUT if you already subscribe to that same magazine -
You don’t get anything but a bill for the subscription - ;))
I learned that some magazines are available “digitally” -
“For my convenience” -
So that I don’t have to wait for the paper version -
AND so that they don’t have to print it and mail it to me -
Saving them $$$ -
AND I get to print it myself -
Using my own printer paper and ink -
Which costs ME $$$ -
In addition to the subscription price - ;))
I learned that some magazines publish “original” blocks -
AND that some of those same blocks can be found in EQ7 -
BUT with a different name and different colors - ;))
I learned that when I buy a new die -
I can pretty much guarantee that a short time later -
That die will go on sale for MUCH less than what I paid for it -
AND that 10 points for a review amounts to only 20 cents -
So FIVE reviews is a whole dollar in reward money -
Wow - what a deal - ;))
I learned that my husband’s email account was hacked -
AND that his “contact list” was stolen -
AND that the hackers sent an email -
To everyone on his “contact list” -
BUT the joke is on them -
Because those of us on his “contact list” -
Know something that they don’t know -
We know that he died last year -
AND is not likely to be the one emailing us - ;((
I learned that any month that starts on a Sunday -
Will have a Friday the 13th in it -
Like tomorrow -
If you do the math -
AND I think that that is pretty cool - ;))
AND I learned that I can get a whole lot more sewing done -
If I could/would stay off the computer - ;))

Ketchup - Part 4
Playing Ketchup -
One post at a time - ;))
===
Now that I have figured out my Picasa problem -
I can tell you about playing with my Triangles - ;))
Most of these came from trades I made with some of my bloggy buddies - ;))
They were all different sizes -
So I sorted them -
By size -
And color -
Sewed a light one to a dark one -
To make HSTs -
And trimmed them to some useful sizes -
Some were "in-between" sizes -
But I didn't want to trim them too small -
So I had some at 1-1/4" just because - ;))
I put them all in separate baggies for later -
And labeled them with the size they ARE - ;))
I don't care what the FINISH size is -
I want to know what size SQUARE it will match -
When I get to that point - ;))
And then I sewed some more - ;))

Ketchup - Part 3
Playing Ketchup -
One post at a time - ;))
===
Here I was -
All ready to post another Ketchup episode -
But Picasa isn't cooperating with me - ;((
I loaded some new photos to my Picasa Web Album -
TWICE -
But they don't show in the album -
And I don't know how to post them to my blog -
If they don't show up in my album - ;((
The maximum used to be 1000 photos per album -
And I hit that with my last post -
So I thought that it would "hiccup" like it always does -
When I hit the max -
And then sort itself out -
But now it says that the limit is 2000 -
So there should be no problem loading another 6 photos -
BUT THERE IS!! - ;((
I loaded the photos like I always do -
Went to "organize" them so that the newest ones show first -
So that I can FIND them -
And the photo count says 1006 -
BUT THEY AREN'T THERE!! - ;((
So I did it AGAIN -
And now the photo count says 1012 -
BUT THEY STILL AREN'T THERE!! - ;((
So this is a photo-less post -
And I'm annoyed -
And don't want to mess with it any more - ;))
I don't know how to fix it -
So I'm going to have to think of something else to try -
Or wait for it to fix itself - ;((
In the meantime -
I'm going to SEW - ;))

Ketchup - Catsup - Catch Up - Part 2 -
Playing Ketchup -
One post at a time - ;))
===
And I thought that this one -
Was scheduled to go "live" on Wednesday -
But I must have hit "Revert to draft" -
At some point in the editing process -
Because it never got posted - ;((
Oh, well -
There was no DEADLINE -
So here it is - ;))
===
The January Sudoku Quilt came together very nicely - ;))
If you take away the borders -
And the sashing and the cornerstones -
It's really just a 9-patch of 9-patches -
Nine different fabrics -
Each in a different spot in the block -
Just like Sudoku - ;))
To see how I cut and sew the sashing/cornerstones and borders -
Check out the page/tab at the top of my blog -
Sudoku Quilts -
I have photos of the progress of other ones that I have made -
And a tutorial posted for easy reference - ;))
Good thing, too -
Because it has been so long since I made the last one -
I had to check it myself -
To see how I made the other ones - ;))
There's one for February -
There's one for March -
And April and May are there as well -
Go take a look -
While I try to write up my next post -
And get a little more sewing done - ;))

On my wall today -
I know that It’s been a while -
And if it wasn’t Design Wall Monday -
I probably would/should have titled this post -
Ketchup - Catsup - Catch Up - ;))
I have been sewing a bit -
But not blogging much at all -
Instead I have spent a LOT of time trying to get our tax stuff together -
It seems like this year we have everything in triplicate -
Like that movie Yours, Mine, and Ours -
But now that stuff is on its way to the accountant -
And I am playing Ketchup -
(Haha - just checking to see if you’re paying attention - ;))
I finished the January Sudoku Quilt top -
Here’s a close-up of one of the blocks -
If you want to read more about my Sudoku Quilts -
Check out the page/tab at the top of my blog -
I have made quite a few -
And have posted a tutorial if you're interested -
The dang things are like potato chips, I swear - ;))
And I finished the Heart for my Memory Quilt -
If you haven’t read about my Hearts and my Memory Quilt -
You can find out more about it - HERE -
And I played a little with my scrap triangles -
And made a Pinwheel and a Broken Dishes block -
Then I made another Pinwheel going the “other” way -
Just for fun - ;))
I have more to share -
But I don’t want this post to be a mile long -
So I’ll save the rest for another day - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
