Orca Bay - 1/4/12

Yesterday I played with Orca Bay some more -
At my current rate - I’ll be playing with Orca Bay for a LONG time - ;))
And LOVING every minute of it -
THANK YOU - BONNIE!!

I was tired of cutting -
So I decided to tackle the little box of QST from Part 1 -
I only had about 100 more to do - ;))

I took a pair -
And pressed them together -
You can see at the bottom left how the white peeks out from under the black -
I TRIED - really I did - but they are not cut to EXACTLY the same size - ;((
And by the time I press them - they get a bit tweaked sometimes -

So - I lined up and pinned my nifty little paper guide to the pair like so -
And used the paper as a guide to trim the “dog ears” on the top corner -

Sewed the pair together - right NEXT to the paper -
Ignoring the mis-match on the bottom right side - ;((
I don't care what size the seam allowance is -
I care what size the QST is -

Pressed it open -
Trimmed the other two “dog ears” -
And - Voila!!
Not ABSOLUTELY PERFECT -
But CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ME!! ;))

YAY~!! - this is actually going to work -

Good thing, too -

I only have about 99 more to go - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

Good for you for finding what works for you. I must admit I'm not exactly thrilled that I have to make so many more of those wing thingies to put in the border (and I considered not) but I will! Thankfully I have Trianglations and that really helps. I'm still working on adding the wings to my pink strings and should have them all finished today. I've slowed up a bunch! Didn't think that was even possible!!!!
Have a good day..

Thanks, Linda - I have Triangulations, too - and I used them for the HST - but I used the Easy Angle for the QST and cut some short (I did a post on my crappy lighting problem) - so now I'm just trying to compensate... I don't even have my red "geese" done - or my blue string blocks done - so I'm waaaaay behind - Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care... ;))

That's very clever, but took a bit of extra work to get those paper triangles. There goes your CDO again, right? But it will pay off in the end!

I have an entire baggie of qst that are not quite right, sigh. But I finished my red strings, got them cut in half and almost all of the papers torn off. I am holding off on step 5 until I get my new die for the GO! in hopes it will be easier. Still plugging along, a little bit at a time, but it makes me happy.
