LHQ - STORAGE TIPS
Some of my favorite storage containers are -
Coffee mugs -
I use coffee mugs to store anything and everything from paper clips to camera cords –
to rulers – scissors – and seam rippers – handy and all nice and neat -
Baskets -
I use pretty baskets to corral odd-sized things –
Just don’t stuff them like mine - ;))
And Photo Boxes - ;))
I store my thread in “Photo boxes” -
The boxes are pretty and stack nicely -
I sort my thread by type and/or brand -
And keep the bobbin WITH the thread –
There are way too many different kinds of thread available today –
I don’t want to mix up my bobbins and thread –
Or try to figure out what type of thread is on a loose bobbin –
It’s too expensive to just throw away -
DESKTOP
I store my camera cord in a coffee mug on my desk -
I use coffee mugs for pencils – pens – markers – etc. -
I use pencil/desk trays and baskets from the 99 cent store –
I use pretty baskets to corral odd-sized things –
SHELVES
I use a tool box nails/screws sorter thingy for needles – pins – and “stuff” –
And photo boxes for thread -
I use a picnic utensil holder to hold long/tall “stuff” –
I use anything and everything that will hold “stuff” –
I put fun stuff on the REALLY high shelves -
Like my little plaques -
The one on the left reads - “You Sew Girl!!!”
The one on the right reads - “Measure Twice - Cut Once”
CABINETS
I use plastic sweater/under the bed bins under my cabinets –
They make finding the stuff in back super-easy -
And easy to get to –
I just pull it out like a drawer –
Voila – “stuff”!!
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

You have some great storage containers. I especially like your "pull out drawers". Some great ways to store stuff. Gotta love our stuff!
Noice!
Cool! Thanks for the glimpse into your sewing space. I love to see how others use and set up their play areas.
Thanks! Check out the tabs/pages at the top of my blog - "Studio Organization" - and "Fabric Storage Tips" - more photos of my play area - including my STASH!! - ;))
I like your picnic utensil holder - I use mine in the bathroom - my toothbrush and toothpaste, daughter's toothbrushes, son's toothbrushes (they're kids, apparently toothbrushes are now a fashion accessory) and their toothpastes and mouthwash in the big (napkin) section. Where did you find yours? I wouldn't mind another one, they're sooo useful!
Thanks - I think that I bought the picnic utensil holder at Target - Summer Sale stuff - years and years ago - ;))
I have a 'few' mugs in sewing room as well. I think you're entirely too organized, though..... What's wrong with seek 'n' find in the sewing room??? :-) Love the shelves, mine would never look that good.....
Thanks, Katie - don't worry - there is quite a bit of "seek 'n' find" when I'm in the middle of something - and trust me - it can get messy - I just don't post THOSE photos - ;))
