U/D - Pastel Brights - Sorting Sets 1-2-3-4 -

One of my new projects is another Upstairs/Downstairs quilt -

This time with some "Easter-egg colored" jelly rolls - Pastel Brights

Linda - Art In Search -  is going to play along with me -

We are going to make two different versions -

With the SAME strips -

In the SAME sequence -

In the SAME "sets" -

The ONLY difference will be which COLOR we use for the "main diagonal" -

It should be fun to see what we get -

If you want to play along -
The jelly rolls are on sale now for $9.97 each - HERE -
You will need 4 of them - 80 total strips -
We'll get 48 blocks - 6 x 8 layout -
And the top will measure 60" x 80" -

===
Side note -
I'm going to be posting a LOT of photos -
Because we want our "sets" to be identical -
And it's easier to SHOW her -
As I go along -
Than it is to try to explain it with only words - LOL -
===

SORTING SETS 1-2-3-4 -

Taking two jelly rolls -
Unroll them and lay them out -
As they come off the roll -
With the fold the right -
The loose ends on the left -
And the BLUE one on top -

Peel off the top FIVE strips from EACH pile -
BLUE - YELLOW - GREEN - PURPLE - PINK -

And put them at the top -

Then put the one stack on top of the other -
For SET #1 -

Peel off the NEXT FIVE strips from EACH pile -
BLUE - YELLOW - GREEN - PURPLE - PINK -

And put them below the first SET -

Then put the one stack on top of the other -
For SET #2 -

Peel off the NEXT FIVE strips from EACH pile -
BLUE - YELLOW - GREEN - PURPLE - PINK -

And put them below the last SET -

Then put the one stack on top of the other -
For SET #3 -

The last FIVE strips in EACH pile -
BLUE - YELLOW - GREEN - PURPLE - PINK -

Are the last SET -

Put the one stack on top of the other -
For SET #4 -

Label each SET with its number -

And put each SET in a separate baggie -

And - all of the baggies in a basket or box -

If it was just me -

And I wasn't that worried about IDENTICAL strip sets -

I sometimes put mine on a cookie sheet -

But Linda has a cat -

And we don't want these getting mixed up - LOL - ;))

Next - I'll show you (and her) -

How I sorted SETS 5-6-7-8 -

We need four more sets -

But we want the "mix" of the fabrics -

To be a little different -

So I sorted them a different way -

Stay tuned - LOL - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

While I have seen your process for this before, it is interesting to see you describe the fine details.
