Chug - chug - chug -
I just keep chugging along -
I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!...
OK - now get THAT out of your head - ;))
I'm taking this "Basic Unit Stage" REALLY SLOW -
Because I learned my lesson when I made Bonnie's "Christmas Lights" -
I rushed through making the four-patch units -
And paid dearly for my sloppiness when I had to "un-sew" a bunch of them
In order to make the next piece fit -
This time I'm slowing down - A LOT!!
We'll see if it pays off in the end - ;))
So - here’s the SLOW POKE status of my Orca Bay -
I got the other 20 QST done yesterday -
Most of the cutting is done -
And some of the units are made -
Part 1 - Make 224 (+4 extra) QST UNITS - black/white - DONE (Finally!!)
Part 2 - Make 72 string blocks - Blue - I have 4
Part 3 - Make 350 (+10 extra) HST UNITS - black/white - DONE
Part 4 - Make 64 string blocks - Red - I have 4
Part 5 - Cut
I’m waiting for the die I ordered - Should be here SOON - (today??) -
‘Cuz there is NO WAY I want to cut
We all saw how well my QST came out now didn’t we?? ;))
Make
254 for the "Geese" (127 x 2 each) and 100 for the border units
Part 6 -
Cut 112 - 2-1/2” squares - Black - I have ZERO
My
Cut 112 - 2-1/2” squares - White/Neutral - DONE
Cut 56 - 2-1/2” squares - Red - DONE
Part 7 -
Make 4 more Part 5 “Wing” triangle units - black/white -
So make that - Cut 700 AND EIGHT "Wing" triangles - ;((
I already have the extra 4 HST cut - YAY for extras!!
Cut 100 Border Triangles - White/Neutral - DONE
Make 2 Hourglass Blocks - BIGGER - DONE
===
The string blocks (haven't decided whether or not I like making those yet) -
The sewing together of the "Wing" and "Geese" units -
And the actual sewing of the BLOCKS -
Still has to be done -
And then there’s - Part 8 - Putting it together -
I haven’t decided if I want to put it together Bonnie’s way -
Or BOB’s way -
So I’ll probably wait until I get there -
Bonnie is doing another link up on the first Monday in February - 2/6/12 -
So I better get going -
I have a wee bit more to do before then - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

HA! I didn't fall for it this time. Just skipped right over your train song. lol
Keep on singing girl...you'll get there. hahaha
You're doing a great job....Your cheer squad is behind you! I think you should do it Bob's way.....You know you want to....Be a rebel with a rotary.
I say put it together your way. I love the way that layout looks. Even Bonnie would appreciate your designer's eye.
Just keep sewing.....
You are farther along than I am, I think. I am with you, I have to take it slow. About 10 of step one squares did not measure 2.5 square and I had to remake them. I think I need to pay more attention to my cutting. I am still going back and forth on my string squares, cause they take so so so long. But I really like the depth and texture they give to Bonnie's quilt.
I just hope I get mine done by Feb. it is a quilt for me so no racing needed. I cannot wait to see yours done so keep up up to date.
From your sister lefty.
