The vertical seams -

Were all sewn -

For my Upstairs/Downstairs - Christmas Colors -

And now it's a top -

Ta Dah!! - ;))

I put my "favorite" block - the pretty RED with the WHITE patches -

As my Row #2 - since it's the most dominate row -

Then the "other" RED with the WHITE as Row #6 -

Knowing that Row #6 has three blocks in the LOWER LEFT corner -

And three blocks in the UPPER RIGHT corner -

Which balances them out -

So - my "magic formula" worked -

Again -

Even when I took a shortcut -

Since I did some "standard" stuff that I always do when I did the layout -

I maintained the block orientation of the DOWN blocks -
the same way as the strata were sewn -

And I maintained the orientation of the UP blocks -
the same way as the strata were sewn -
with a quarter-turn to the RIGHT -

And - this time - I separated some of the "neutral" colors -
because they seemed to "stand out" more -

When I decided on the order of my first "column" -

Then the rest worked itself out nicely -

I didn't worry about the same fabrics touching -

I just let them do their own thing -

And it looks like I sort of planned it that way - LOL -

I think that it even looks good upside-down -

Hmmm -

Now I wonder what it would look like -

If I made the GREEN the MAIN diagonal -

Instead of the RED -

You KNOW I have more of those jelly rolls - right? - LOL -

I never could resist a good sale -

And they WERE on sale - LOL - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

Great results. From as far away as I am, those little choices hardly show. The all-over effect is great.

This top is beautiful and love the Christmas colors. What’s next Kitty?

It is gorgeous (and this from one who is not fond of seasonal quilts.)
You clearly have a very precise working plan for that pattern.
You haven't mentioned a "new squirrel" so we are all wondering what is next.

I'll admit I was skeptical seeing those reds next to each other, but I decided to wait and see. It's your quilts, after all and you're the one gaining a learning experience if you don't care for it! But...I DO like it! It gives a nice block of bright color and looks very festive. I'll be watching to see if green works as well.
