The other day I had another DUH! moment -
When I realized -
How easy it would be -
To move my ironing board -
To the LEFT of SusieQ -
To save some “scooting” time -
Between piecing -
And pressing -
Repeat after me -
DUH!! - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

What do they say? Just because something has always been that way is not a good enough reason not to re-think and/or change it. Looks like it will be handier for you.
Me? I think when I am really busy sewing I need to get my behind out of the chair and exercise my legs more than scooting allows. Of course, I don't even have a real ironing board in the sewing room anymore either.
Now that looks like a much better arrangement. (I love your chair!) I think our sewing rooms are always a WIP. At least mine is for sure.
I have couple small pressing boards that I always have next to my machines along with my travel iron. If someone came into my home and looked they'd think I have an iron / ironing board fetish - I have my full size board with the big board topper set up in the quilting room (along with my choice of 3 irons), I have a smaller over the door type ironing board set up in the sewing room, I have another ironing board stored in my shed (don't want to run out of ironing boards) and I think I have about 6 or 7 irons.....
I'm always looking to make my sewing/work space more efficient - and I really don't worry about getting my behind out of the chair and exercising my legs. I have to get up to use my cutting table - and the design wall(s) - and to refill my coffee cup - and to answer "nature calls" - so I get PLENTY of exercise - haha - ;))
I have to move the ironing board to use the cutting table - but that's a minor "slide it over a bit" move. (I LOVE my chair - should have bought a spare - might still do that.) It's funny - I don't rearrange furniture in ANY other room of the house - where it is is where it was 10 years ago and where it will be 10 years from now. On the other hand - my sewing room seems to be in constant motion - ;))
I have three or four irons and a mini-iron - an ironing board at "sitting" height because I'm lazy - a small ironing pad - and a HUGE 24" x 60" ironing pad that I use on my kitchen island when I need to press a quilt top or backing. I don't think quilters can ever have too many irons or ironing/pressing surfaces - that would be like saying that we can ever have too much fabric - and we all know that isn't true - haha - ;))
