BOB and Flannel -

BOB doesn’t get it -

What’s the big deal with Flannel? -

Why do some quilters love it so much? -

BOB doesn't like it at all -

I know that it's soft and fuzzy -

BUT -

I think that it's also very flimsy -

And very linty when I try to wash/dry it -

And very stretchy when I try to sew it -

And it’s usually more expensive than regular cotton -

So what’s the big deal? -

I don’t get it -

I don't buy it either - ;))

But then again - it’s probably just me - ;)

Some of it isn't so flimsy and stretchy. I've encountered thicker, nicer flannel, but you just have to look for it. It's not necessarily at quilt shops either. I love it for backs, but not so much for fronts. And you're right, it is lintier than regular cotton, but I figure that's someone else's problem once I give it to them. :)

some like it for backs but who knows? I was sent a pile of it, enough for a nice cozy quilt that was kitted up in Fons and Porter plus some others that will go with it. Mom was given it, the lady who gave it to her said she had changed her mind and didn't want to mess with it so I wound up with it. You have to starch it to stabilize it or some such thing and then it isn't so soft and cuddly, I would think anyway. So it sits in my closet waiting for me.

I suppose the thicker, nicer stuff would work for the back of a baby quilt - but regular cotton works just fine for me - ;))

I had some in a drawer somewhere once upon a time - but I must have given it away. Hopefully it went to someone who would actually USE it - and isn't sitting in another drawer somewhere - ;))

I'm not a big fan of sewing flannel but my hubby and son argue over who gets to use the only flannel blanket I ever made, they say it's warmer. Which turned into it's been so used, loved and fought over that they asked me to make another one...... :/ eventually isn't a good enough answer for them, I guess I'll suffer through another one for my guys... but this is the last time!!! (anyone else not believe that?)

Sounds to me like you have two pretty good reasons to make another one - or two - and you already know that it will be used, loved and fought over - can't beat that!! - ;))
