Final layout -

 

 

Up on the design wall - 

 

For my Upstairs/Downstairs - Iris/Rose Mix -  

 

With a few minor changes - 

 

The first column shows what will be DIAGONAL Rows #1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 

 

The top row shows what will be DIAGONAL Rows #1 - 8 - 7 - 6 -

 

 

This pattern is designed in DIAGONAL rows - 

But I sew it in columns - 

Starting with the BOTTOM row - 

 

Because I "web" my tops "with a twist" - LOL - 

 

 

HORIZONTAL ROW #8 and #7 are on the ironing board - 

Ready to sew - to make my "columns" - 

The top of the blocks is on the right -

 

 

Partially webbed - 

 

Now for the "VERTICAL" seams - 

 

And then it will be a top - 

 

Here's the final top -

 

Ta Dah!! - 

 

It still looks a little "pixelated" -

 

But the darker diagonals down the middle - 

 

Seem more pleasing to my eye - 

 

I like how the light greens are sprinkled here and there - 

 

But those light lavenders stuck out no matter where I put them -

 

And I didn't want them in a straight line - 

 

So I decided to put them in an odd-numbered row - 

 

And stick them in the corners - LOL -

 And here it is upside-down - LOL - 

 

This post is scheduled to "go live" at 12:30AM on December 31, 2020 - 

So I made it before the end of the year - YAY me!!! -

 

I suppose I should thank my phone/internet/TV service for going out - 

 

And giving me an excuse and extra time to SEW more than usual - 

 

But I don't wanna - LOL - ;))

Moving along -

 

 

The past two days have been a blur - 

With no phone and no internet - 

At least I had POWER and my sewing machine worked - 

So - with nothing else to do - 

No blogs to read -

 

No emails to answer -

 

No games to play with friends - 

 

No sites to "surf" - 

No "chores" that required phone calls or internet access -

I SEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWED -

And then I SEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWED some more - 

And - I don't remember which day I sewed what -

 

And - I'm not sure I could ever do it again - 

But the blocks are done - 

All 48 of them!!!!!! - ;))

Set #1 - 2 -

 Set #5 - 6 -

Set #7 - 8 -

All pressed nice and neat - 

And in a pile - 

First layout on the design wall - 

But I didn't like it - so I took it down - 

Tomorrow is another day - 

I'll try again in the morning -

After I answer my emails from the last two days - LOL - ;))

Has been messing with me - ;))

 

Murphy's Law - if anything can go wrong - it will - LOL -

This year I wanted to try to post something EVERY day - 

And I was SO close before I got tripped up - 

 

This might not be my "regular" 12:30 AM post - 

 

But it IS a post for December 29, 2020 -

 

So I barely made it - ;))

 

I woke up yesterday morning - Monday -

 

Made my coffee - turned on my computer -

 

And picked up the phone to make my first call of the day -

 

To see - "No Line" - WHAT?!?!? -

No dial tone - no phone - GREAT!! -

 

Computer - no internet access - TERRIFIC!! - 

BOB may or may not have added some naughty words - LOL - ;))

My phone - internet - and TV are all provided by the same company - 

One goes out - they ALL go out - bummer!! -

So - one of my neighbors was kind enough to call the company for me - 

The soonest a technician could come out would be Wednesday afternoon - 

REALLY?!?!? -

 

The customer service representative said she would try to get someone out as soon as possible - if someone cancelled - or if a technician became available sooner -

Turned out he showed up about an hour ago - 

And fixed whatever it was -

(I'm not that tech savvy to understand ANY of it - just FIX it - OK?

 I don't need details!) -

And I'm up and running - YAY!! - 

BOB wants to know how they expect me to call for a repair if my phone is out - 

And how I'm supposed to "go online" for tech support if I have no internet access - 

And why they call me with the status of my "ticket" -

Without giving me a "ticket" number - 

 

On MY number which doesn't work -

 

Instead of the number my neighbor provided as a contact number - 

 

BECAUSE my number doesn't work - ?!?!?!? -

 

Just sayin - LOL - ;))

 

By the way - I did some more sewing while I had nothing else to do - LOL - 

 

And I'll try to get that together for my "regularly scheduled programming" -

 

To go "live" at 12:30 AM tomorrow morning - 

 

For now - because every post needs at least ONE photo -

Marathon Sewing Day -

 

 

All of the strata are sewn -

For my Upstairs/Downstairs - Iris/Rose Mix -  

 

These from last time -

So - all sixteen strata were sewn -

 

Before I went to bed last night - 

 

I'm a night owl -  

So staying up late is just fine with me - 

 

But BOB doesn't DO mornings -

 

And thinks that "Good Morning" is an oxymoron - 

 

So - don't ask me to get up early - 

 

I'll pretend I didn't hear you - LOL - ;))

Puzzle day -

 

 

I spent a good part of the day putting together a puzzle - 

 

That I received as a Christmas present - 

 

Buffalo Games and Puzzles -

Vivid Collection - Window Lilies - 

300 pieces - 

 

 

 

Last night - 

 

After I scheduled my post for this morning -

 

To show you the GREEN top - 

 

I dug out another set of 20-strip jelly rolls - 

 

For another Upstairs/Downstairs top - 

 

This time it's a collection called "Iris/Rose Mix" - 

 

 

And it has some pretty colors - 

 

Which sorted nicely into four piles of five each - 

 

So I made my eight different combinations for the blocks - 

 

Stayed up late - 

 

And sewed together some of the strata before I went to bed - 

 

And some more this afternoon - 

 

 

Just because these things are like potato chips - 

I can't stop making them - 

And I want to see if I can get ONE more done - 

 

Before the end of the year - ;))

If I can get the rest of the strata sewn and cut tomorrow -

 

Put off doing some "chores" -

 

And then try to double up on the number of blocks I make in one day - 

I just might make it - LOL - ;))

Green - Saturday - #7 - 8 -

 

 

First - I hope everyone had a VERY Merry Christmas - 

I spent mine very quietly sewing - 

And made quite a bit of progress -

 

Thursday I sewed the last two sets of blocks - 

 

For my Upstairs/Downstairs - Christmas - GREEN -  

 

 

And yesterday - 

 

When I had a pile of blocks - 

 

 

 

 

I couldn't wait to start webbing it - 

 

So - 

Since you have all been SO patient - 

 

Here is the final top - 

 

Ta Dah!! - 

 

 

 And here it is upside-down - LOL - 

 

 

I tried a "collage" for the first time - below -

 

So you could compare the RED one on the top - 

 

To the GREEN one on the bottom -  

 

 

I like how the RED in the bottom photo - 

 

Refuses to let the GREEN be dominant - LOL - ;))

 

Both tops have the SAME fabrics - from identical jelly rolls -

 

Both tops have the SAME fabrics in the SAME strata - for the blocks - 

 

Both tops have the SAME blocks in the SAME order - for the layout -

 

The ONLY difference between the two tops is -

The placement of the two RED strips and the two GREEN strips - 

Were REVERSED when I sewed each strata for the second one - 

This pattern never ceases to amaze me - 

 

I like the surprise at the end - 

 

I really don't know how some of these are going to turn out - 

 

Until I see them done -

 

And that's always FUN - ;))
