Variations of the basic NINE-PATCH -

The sewn block will MEASURE 6-1/2” -

And FINISH at 6” -

Block #49 - Aunt Dinah

1 light strip(s) - 1-1/2” x 11”
4 light/dark - 2-patch - 1-1/2” x 2-1/2”
1 light square - 2-1/2” x 2-1/2”
4 dark HST triangles
4 light/medium QST units
4 medium/dark QST units

There are several ways to make this “unit” -

This Is How I Do It -
Sew the 2-patch units to a light strip -
One right after the other -

And cut them into 2-1/2” segments like so -

Press them open -
And pair them with a dark HST triangle -
Putting the dark HST triangle -
On TOP of the open segment -
Right sides together -
Lining up the the TOP RIGHT corner -

Sew from the TOP LEFT corner to BOTTOM RIGHT corner -

Press them open -
Folding down the HST triangle -
To the BOTTOM LEFT corner -

And trim the underneath side -
Sorry - I turned the patch in this photo -
It's the extra fabric UNDER the HST triangle -
That you just sewed on -

And assemble it as a 9-patch -
