Last year -

 

 

On Saturday - the last day of the year - 

 

I finished quilting both of the Woof & Whisker tops - 

 

With giant swirls in each block - 

 

 

After the first one was finished -

 

I loaded the second top on the same backing - 

 

Two-for-one - 

 

Some swirls are better than others - 

 

But I was trying to do a "looser" design - 

 

To make the quilts soft and squishy - 

 

And the texture should be great - 

 

I didn't realize how close I was to running out of batting - 

 

Until it was almost too late - 

 

I'll have to pay more attention to that in the future - 

 

And - another thing I need to remember - 

 

Is to load only one quilt at a time - 

This "two-for-one" sounds great in theory - 

Especially if two tops will use the same backing - 

 

But by the time I got to the last row on the second one -

The bulk of the top was on the back rail and hitting the back of the machine - 

Cutting down my "workspace" -

 

 

So I had to do a row of "echo" on the last set of blocks - 

Because I couldn't do it the way I did the first few rows -

I doubt that anyone will notice -

It will be on the right side of the second top close to the edge - 

 

I cut the batting really close - 

But I had several extra inches at the end of the backing - 

So that part worked out nicely -

 

 

I think smaller swirls may have looked better -

 

In the future - I think I'll stick to smaller all-over designs -

 

And not try to "fill" blocks - 

 

But I have a bunch of tops to use for practice - 

 

So it should be fun to figure it out as I go - ;))
