Upstairs/Downstairs is bound -
And I really like how it came out - ;))
The colors are so pretty and happy -
And the back has those beautiful hibiscus flowers and colorful surfboards -
This one came out to 36" x 36" -
Next time I might use 2-1/2" strips instead of 1-1/2" strips -
That would make each block finish at 12" instead of 6" -
And the same 6 x 6 layout would come out to 72" x 72" -
Twice as big for the same effort -
What's not to like - LOL - ;))
Somewhere I heard/read that there seems to be a "Rule of Three" for mitered binding corners - only three of the four will look OK - the fourth one usually won't -
And I think that's true -
The first two are looking pretty good -
And the third one is "close enough" for me -
But that fourth one is beautiful only to me -
Because I know how hard it was to get it to come out looking THIS good - LOL - ;))
And I forgot to mention that when I quilted down the center of each column/row -
That I didn't quilt in the VERY LAST column or row -
Mostly because I'm not that good at gauging EXACTLY where the binding is going to be when I fold it over to the front since I mark it from the back and the batting thickness messes up my "estimate" line -
Anyway - AFTER it was bound -
I stitched ONE more quilting line half-way between the last seam line and the edge of the binding on all four sides -
It LOOKS like I sewed it when I did the rest of them -
But I didn't -
So it will be our little secret, OK? - LOL - ;))
I still need to make the label - "Heart" - and "Scrap Card" for my Scrapbook -
And I just now realized that I forgot to add some "Hanging Triangles" - UGH!! -
So I guess it's good that I planned it to be a table topper, huh? - ;))
I also have some clean-up and scrap organizing to do -
And some updating on my UFOs/Projects/Squirrels page -
And A LOT of catching up to do on all of the blogs that I read regularly -
And a bunch of "comments" to answer - ;))
Sometimes I get so "in the zone" that I forget the rest of the world -
Does that ever happen to you?? -
Please say "Yes" - LOL - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

That spicy binding is a nice zinger to finish this quilt. I love it!
Quit looking at the details (creative imperfections) of the quilt. When you stand across the room it will be PERFECT!!!
The binding makes the whole quilt seem lighter in color and it's a perfect summery quilt. I won't tell anyone about the binding issues, as I usually have one that goes perfectly and the other three cause hair loss before I get them to an acceptable state! And yes, I get in the zone too. Enjoy it - sometimes it's better to create and not worry about all the other stuff. So long as you're eating, all else will be okay - we'll be here when you get back!
I think the final results are perfect. That binding holds it all together. Forget about the corners, if I had to do that by machine, none of them would look any good!
Oh yes! This is a beautiful finish. I'm interested in your "Scrap Card" and scrapbook. Have you posted about that before? If so, could you send me the link. I'd love to see how you keep up with your quilts.
Testing - ;))
