Fixed it -

At least I think I fixed it -

I think the thread shredding was caused by the needle being a bit "old" -

When I replaced it with the first new one -

There was no shredding - but the needle broke - for whatever reason -

The second "new" needle probably wasn't all the way up in the housing -

And came loose when I sewed a little faster than I normally do -

It looked like it broke in half -

So - I shoved the third one up as far as I could -

And it seems to be OK so far -

But now I've probably jinxed it - LOL - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

Hopefully that was the only problem and you have it fixed. The first needle may have been ever so slightly bent - I KNOW how that causes problems.
And if the needle isn't fully "pushed in" then it is "too long" which can cause it to break.

Wishing you jinx free sewing!

I hope you have lots of smooth sewing now. I have to change the needle on my machine today, round top instead of flat back so it is a challenge to get it in just perfectly.

Agree with Wanda. Those round top needles are oh so finicky to get in just perfectly. If it is a little off center, the shredding commences.
