Doll clothes -

Are so fun to make - ;))

The shoulder seams of the bodice are only about 1-1/2" long - and I decided to add ties to the back rather than velcro or buttons - so I made sure to stick them in before I sewed the seam that attached the lining to the bodice itself -

The sleeve was less than 8" long -
So another quick double hem with some lace attached - times 2 -

Gather the sleeve at the cap -
Haven't done that in YEARS -
But it's like riding a bike -
You don't really forget how to do it if you have ever put in a sleeve before -

Trying to keep the side/bodice side even -
It's only an inch long -

Pull gently on the gathers -
And wind one end of the threads around the first pin -

Pins are definitely your friends - and I used several -

And - since the pieces were small -
Sometimes I "weaved" the pin so it wouldn't slip out of place -

The other sleeve -

Both sleeves on - looking cute - ;))

The bonnet and the skirt took most of the time -

The bonnet was a little too big - but by that time it was past midnight - and I wasn't about to make another one - so - I took a couple of tucks in it and tacked it together in the middle. And because she is a little girl and liable to lose the bonnet - I tacked that to the doll itself at the bottom of the bonnet in the center back - that way she can untie the tie - but the bonnet is still attached - and her Mama can retie it without having to "find" it first - LOL - ;))

After the "alteration" it fits much better now -

The sleeves are the perfect length considering the dress pattern was for another doll -

She looks good when her feet show, too -

I shortened the skirt so that if she's sleeping - you can see her feet - ;))

So BOB and I were up until 2AM Saturday morning finishing up the doll -

Which is OK because I'm a night owl -

But morning came REAL quickly -

And I had to drag myself out of bed and make a beeline to the coffee pot -

So I had SOMETHING to help keep my eyes open -

THEN -

When I checked my calendar -

I had the party listed on Saturday AND Sunday -

What?!?!? -

So I checked with the "Grandpa" who invited me to the party and asked him if it was Saturday - or Sunday -

It's SUNDAY - hahahaha - ;))

I don't know what part of my brain shorted out -

But I seemed to have missed the connection between "Baptism" and "Sunday" - DUH!!! -

And all this time I thought I wanted/needed to get the doll finished by Saturday -

I had another whole day!! -

By that time - I was wide awake -

But it's all good -

On Saturday I had time to wrap it up nice and pretty and get a card ready -

Then I checked the internet for alternatives to Blogger -

And THAT is a whole 'nother post - LOL - ;))

Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -

The doll is beautiful and will be a heirloom for years. Great workmanship.

You did a lovely job on the doll. I think I remember sleeves as being a total "itch" - with a capital B. Thus why I don't make shirts for myself. Or If I do the sleeves are raglan sleeves. LOL
