THANKS for all of the kind comments yesterday -
I LOVE your input!! - ;))
So first I had to try Gene's suggestion of mixing both sets of blocks -
And put two Mint Chip blocks in the empty spaces on the design wall -
But I think the Mint Chip ones are too dark -
And too BLUE - and too GREEN - and too BROWN -
And detract from the "soft and pretty" colors in the Citrus Chips -
So I set them aside for now -
I have other plans for them -
And they can come out to play again later - LOL -
In the meantime - I had some holes to fill -
And I decided to add another row at the bottom -
To make the layout 6 x 8 -
Approximately 48" x 64" -
Total 48 blocks -
So now I was short 8 blocks instead of just 2 -
I "borrowed" a quick fix from a friend -
And cut some "plain" squares from the yardage -
That I had originally planned to use for the big outer border -
Since it matches one of the strips in the jelly roll -
The theory being that if I make it big enough -
It won't need a border -
And that's one less thing I have to mess with worry about - LOL -
And I think the "plain" squares blend in nicely -
I like the mix of colors on the design wall -
And think I have them spread out pretty well -
But I may need to rotate some of the blocks -
Depending on whether or not the seams will nest nicely -
So that's the plan for tomorrow -
Check which way those seams go -
And adjust the blocks accordingly -
I know that I could rush through it and try to just sew it together -
To get it done before the end of the month -
But it's not a race -
And I don't have a quota to meet -
So I'll take my time and give it my best shot -
This one and Mint Chip can be "done" next month -
Besides -
I have already sewn together SIX tops for this month -
And that's SIX more -
Than I usually have - LOL - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
Baggies/bins of blocks were found -
For two more possible flimsys before the end of the month - ;))
The first one is Citrus Chips -
The second one is Mint Chip -
They both used the same jelly roll pattern - HERE -
Scroll down until you find -
TP #303 - "Chip Off The Old Block" -
The Teacher's Pet - (c)2007 - Deirdre K. Brown -
Each baggie has 40 blocks - 8-1/2" square - to finish at 8" -
If I do a 5 x 7 layout - 35 blocks - I'll have 5 extra blocks for the back -
Approximately - 40" x 56" - without borders -
If I do a 6 x 7 layout - 42 blocks - I'll be 2 blocks short -
Approximately - 48" x 56" - without borders -
Anyway -
I pulled out the Citrus Chips blocks -
And remembered the YUMMY colors -
But putting them up on the wall -
In a 6 x 7 layout -
I can see this is not going to be a "quick" one to put together -
There is a LOT of block arranging/moving around to do -
Now I remember why both batches of blocks -
Are still in baggies - LOL - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
Woof & Whiskers - Jiffy Jelly™ Quilt - is a flimsy -
Ta Dah!! - ;))
And on the kitchen floor -
So you can see the size relative to what I usually make -
Epic Prints Woof & Whiskers - HERE -
I thought it might be easier to make bigger blocks using four little ones -
But once I had them all up on the wall -
It was just as easy to "web" them "as is" -
So I set them block to block -
Layout - 8 x 10 -
Like the original pattern -
Jiffy Jelly™ Quilt from Moda - HERE -
I like using this design wall much better than the one in the hallway -
It's smaller -
But it's big enough for the size of quilts that I usually make -
And since I figured out my "TWIST" on the webbing thing -
I don't even have to get out of my chair -
Until I get to the upper rows - LOL - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
The cookie sheet/tray that I found -
Has 20 sets of 4 - dating back to April 2020 - HERE -
From the other jelly roll that matched the TT Confetti top that I just made -
Epic Prints Woof & Whiskers - HERE -
I could set them block to block -
Layout - 8 x 10 -
Like the original pattern -
Jiffy Jelly™ Quilt from Moda - HERE - LOL -
But it's easier to make bigger blocks using four little ones -
Like this one - HERE - where I had two sets of identical big blocks -
But I'll have to play with sorting them -
Because I have two different centers in each set of four little blocks -
And the same centers don't have the same "surround" -
But that's half the FUN -
Getting CREATIVE - LOL - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
All webbed -
And not looking that different from the original Plan A -
Then all sewn together -
Ta Dah!! -
That makes FIVE flimsies stitched together so far this month -
- Karma Churn Dash -
- Upstairs/Downstairs - Sevilla Blues -
- Hear Wave -
- Dresden Plates -
- TT Confetti -
I think that's a record for me - LOL -
And I have a pile of blocks almost ready for another layout -
So maybe I can go for SIX -
And break my own record -
Before the end of the month - LOL - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
I couldn't decide -
So I procrastinated again today -
After my "chores" -
And played games on my tablet instead - LOL - ;))
I want to THANK everyone again for their input -
The votes so far are -
Assuming I counted correctly - LOL -
Plan A - 3 votes + 2 votes yesterday = 5
Plan B - 1 vote -
Plan E - 1 vote -
Plan F - 6 votes -
Plan K - 1 vote yesterday -
At this point -
I don't much care -
I just want to sew it together -
And move on -
So I think I'll just go back to my first "gut" layout -
And put it together that way -
Plan A - wins - LOL - ;))

Yesterday I had some layouts on my design wall -
And got several opinions on favorites -
THANK YOU!! -
I appreciate all of the input - and comments -
MANY heads are better than just mine at seeing stuff -
That should be obvious to me -
But isn't sometimes - ;))
Today I couldn't decide if I wanted to play with more layouts or not -
So I procrastinated -
And spent most of the day playing games on my tablet -
Then I finally decided to play a little -
So - here are a couple more -
Just for fun -
Plan G -
Plan H -
Plan I -
I think the last one is the most "balanced" -
But looking at the photo now -
I realize that the first two in Row #2 should be switched -
So here's Plan J -
Then I got comment from "another lefty" -
Who pointed out the oddball red/white one -
The third one in the bottom row -
Which seemed out of place in most of the previous versions -
So I moved it one last time for -
Plan K -
I know I could/should take another vote -
And I could also move them around for d.a.y.s. and/or w.e.e.k.s. -
But it never will be "perfect" -
So I think I'm done playing and moving them around -
And will just sew it together now -
I have other stuff that I want to do - LOL - ;))

Yesterday I had a couple of layouts on my design wall -
Plan A -
Was scrapped in favor of -
Plan B -
Rows - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 -
Then I wanted to move the bottom row to the top -
And scooch the rest of the rows down one step -
Putting a dark row at each end -
To balance it out a bit more -
But I decided to move Row #4 to the top instead -
Plan C -
Rows - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 5 -
Then I thought I could swap the original Row #1 and Row #4 -
To keep Row #3 in the middle -
It has the only black/white and red/white sets -
But I already had Row #4 at the top -
So I swapped the third and fourth rows in this version -
Plan D -
Rows - 4 - 1 - 3 - 2 - 5 -
Row 3 - blocks - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 -
I liked that one -
But decided to swap the first and third blocks in the middle row -
And got -
Plan E -
Rows - 4 - 1 - 3 - 2 - 5 -
Row 3 - blocks - 3 - 2 - 1 - 4 -
Then -
One more swap -
Top row - the first two blocks with the last two blocks -
Plan F -
It's fun to play with them for a little while -
But it's MORE fun to sew them together -
So - before I do that -
Which one do you like best? -
Or should I swap something else? - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
The blocks that I found on the cookie sheet/tray -
Were from early April - 4/2/20 - HERE -
And were cut for the Confetti - by Timeless Treasures - HERE -
aka TT-Confetti -
I also made the obligatory "one of these is not like the others" -
And posted about it - HERE - LOL -
Today I put them up on the wall -
With all of the darker blocks at the bottom -
As a first look-see -
And then I swapped the first two in the top row -
With the first two in the second row -
And reversed them dark/light to follow the sequence in the rest of the row -
Now - looking at the photos -
I think that I could move the bottom row to the top -
And scooch the rest of the rows down one step -
Putting a dark row at each end -
To balance it out a bit more -
Or swap the top row and the fourth row -
To keep row three in the middle -
It has the only black/white and red/white sets -
And -
I could probably re-arrange them f.o.r.e.v.e.r. -
But I don't want to spend that much time on it -
Because there are only twenty blocks -
And they will never be that far away from something similar -
So either of those might be a quick fix -
What do you think? - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
My Dresden Plates is a flimsy!! - ;))
This one dates back to March 8, 2013 - HERE -
I'm sooooooooo glad that I strung it out over several years -
There's no way I would have been able to make it from start to finish -
All in a short period of time -
Without totally burning out on it -
It was too labor-intensive -
So it really needed to be a "long-term" project -
And the blocks shrinking thing was "much ado about nothing" -
Either that or I was on "automatic" when it came to "fudging" - LOL -
Anyway - here it is on the design wall -
Ta Dah!! -
And on the kitchen floor -
So you can compare the size to others that I have made -
It's roughly 54" x 72" -
And some close-ups -
I like the "pop" of the PURPLE batik -
That's the only color NOT in the background blocks -
I had to get "creative" in the pressing -
There's a whole lot of layers in there -
And quilting this puppy might be a challenge -
I'm going to have to stay away from all of those bulky seams - LOL - ;))
After I took the photos -
I looked around for my "next" project -
And found a cookie sheet/tray with some finished blocks -
That just need to be put up on the design wall -
I'll show you that tomorrow -
So maybe I can get another flimsy together this week -
Maybe - LOL - ;))
Talk to you later - gotta go - gotta sew -
